Has anyone had a thumping noise coming from the back of the car while going over small bumps? It sounds like the noise is suspension related. I checked my spare tire, which was tight. The noise doesn't occur on the highway. This is on a 2012 sh-awd model.

 

I have noticed this lately on our 2012 RDX AWD. Have an A1 service coming up and going to discuss with the service advisor then to troubleshoot.

 

My A1 service is coming up soon as well. I will mention it to them. I saw another thread where ppl said they had their struts replaced. I even think there is a tsb out on the MDX for this issue.

 

Looking at another thread on here, this looks like a common issue. Does anyone have a similar experience?

Just got back from my first A1 service on the 13 RdX AWD. Turns out to be a rear strut to be replaced. Easily fixed and of course under warranty.

 

It's scary that a strut on a 2013 model would require replacement. I hope it was just a defective strut and that's not a preview of things to come...

 

I have the same issue. Driving out of my neighborhood daily over street cracks, and it sounds like a muted "pop" or thump. I only seem to hear it when driving below 40mph. Annoying as hell - never had a car that made that sort of sound over minor bumps. I've reported it twice to the dealer and they said everything under there (rear suspension) was tight. I had one of their loaner cars - same year TL as mine - and it made the same exact sound, so I agree with others that it may be a characteristic of the car. Frustrating.
