Take off radiator
#2
Burning Brakes
If you are motivated only to do this yourself (not the dealer or local mechanic), it's not a difficult job. These steps aren't specific to the TL, but should be relevant to most if not all cars.
1. Remove the fancy engine cover and disconnect battery.
2. Drain the coolant. There should be a drain wing nut near the bottom of the radiator. If you can't find it, take off the bottom radiator hose. Be prepared for a lot of fluid coming out and have a drain pan ready. Keep kids and animals clear as I heard it's a tasty poison.
3. If the radiator is nearly empty, you should be able to disconnect the top hose with minimal leakage.
4. Disconnect the coolant lines to the automatic transmission (if necessary). Plug them up to minimize leakage and exposure to air. You will likely lose some fluid, so be prepared to add some back.
5. Disconnect the cooling fans' electrical plugs. There may or maynot be a separate connection for the AC and/or cooling fans.
6. Remove the bolts that hold the radiator in...there are usually only 4. Remove the ones from the bottom first and then the top. This will allow you to lift the radiator out of the car easily...expect some leakage.
7. Once out of the car, you can transfer the fan shroud and fans from the old radiator to the new one.
8. Installation is the reverse.
