everytime I put to pedal to the floor, the car freaks out at around 5k RPM and has an awful shift it seems. its like it gets stuck around there and its forced to have me shift when using the paddles. any idea?

how many miles do you have on the car? maybe tranny fluid needs to be changed or spark plugs?

 

Check the oil level immediately. If it's low there might be not enough pressure for VTEC rockers to engage causing engine issues.

it could be a problem with the Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor

It could be an issue with the transmission, check the fluid color. it should be pinkish red and not brown at all. It should be replaced every 30K at the max mileage.
