Hi i have a 2009 acura tl sh awd automatic 180k and im thinking my torque converter started to give me problems but im not really sure if its that... i uploaded 2 videos on youtube that shows the problem if you can check them out thank you!!

symptoms: 1-my rpm goes up and down while driving
2-the car will shut off on red light when the rpm goes to low.
3- there is some hesitation while accelerating at higher speed because the rpm is going up and down.

Any lights on the dash? Get them scanned?

 

No light

 

do the idle relearn procedure and check the fluid level of the trans when it is HOT/Warm. Fluid should be between 2 dots on the dipstick and should be pinkish red. If the rpms keep dropping really low its a bigger issue maybe a failing sprag clutch inside the transmission.

 

Sounds like a torque converter problem. I believe there was a recall on this. I think you need to make a trip to the dealer.
