Residue on Steering Wheel

I purchased an used 2012 Acura TL with Tech Package a few weeks back and I noticed there was some blue and white residue on the left side of the steering wheel. I tried to get rid of it using a damp microfiber towel, but no luck. I thought about using goo-gone, but was hesitant to use it on leather. Does anyone know what this might be and/or have any ideas on how to get rid of this? Thanks.

have you tried actual leather cleaner????

it seems to be the most logical thing to do.. stop by your nearest autozone to pick one up..

looks like the previous owner had a stering wheel cover, particles of fabric and misc debrees nail polish chips might have gotten in between there that my guess and its been sitting on the steering wheel for sometime ^^ a leather cleaner sounds about right or first try a small amount mild soap and water gently rub a small section see if you get it off

I tried using lexol leather cleaner, but it wouldn't come off. I didn't want to rub too hard on the steering wheel leather either. I was able to get some of the white specks out, but none of the blue residue.

Yeah, I probably won't take my chances. I don't feel any of the residue when I touch it, but it just bothers me looking at it.

I havea a 2012 CPO that I bought last month. My steering wheel had a nick (1/4 inch) from previous owner.

Dealership ordered brand new steering wheel for me through warranty.

Can you contact yours for warranty repair?

It might be worth a try, but I didn't buy my car from an Acura Dealership so I don't know if they will honor it.

Thanks, good find. How difficult would it be to swap the air bag and electronics out of the steering wheel?

I haven't taken off the steering wheel on my TL, but I don't think it would be too difficult based on other cars I've worked on. Also, I bet someone has instructions on how to replace a 4G TL steering wheel.

to the OP, use Woolite and Water solution, 6 parts water to 1 part woolite. It'll clean that off in a heartbeat! I had white spots like those from my ex driving the car when she would get her nails done (few days after when they are peeling).

Genuis man! I followed your directions and with a little pressure rubbing on the residue, everything came off! My steering wheel looks perfect now. Thanks again for the tip.
