Problems with the trunk opening by itself?

I delivered am '09 TL Tech to someone last week. He called me today and said that he was having a problem with the trunk. Since Friday, a few times he closed his trunk, immediately he hears something from the car beeping and the trunk opens back up by itself. He closes the trunk again, it beeps again, and opens again. He said at some point it was happening for a few minutes straight until it stopped. Anyone know if this is a problem, what he may be doing wrong or anything to tell me why this is happening?

The TL is thinking that there is a key inside the trunk and it is preventing him from locking the key in there. Any chance there's a key in a gym bag or something else in the trunk?

it sounds like his key fob is in the trunk. The car is smart enough to not let you lock the key fob in it. Tell the customer to make sure the second key is not in the trunk.

Thats exactly what I thought it was and he said the key was in his pocket the whole time. The key is not in the car or trunk at all.

it may be a faulty sensor in the trunk to detect the key. I would have the owner bring in the car and have the tech perform the tests to ensure that the sensor is faulty.

I told him to put the key in the pocket that is furthest from the trunk to see if it makes a difference...he's going to let me know..

Perhaps a defective key fob, im thinking the trunck button on the fob is continously pressed. Try to interchange the key fobs, leave one far from car and try again. If not then CSMEANCE could be right.
