PLEASE HELP with my 2012 TL
Hello everyone I'm new here and i have a very BIG problem. The problem I'm having is with my 2012 TL. Before i purchased the car i saw everyone had good gas mileage from the 2011 and so on, But not my me I'm averaging 13 mpgs to 14 mpg. I don't not race around town since this is the family car and i have two little ones. Can anyone here please help me with this problem I've grown not to like this car at all. Please help. Thank you

I would talk to your service department and make sure they properly prepped the car. There are procedures they do during the prep to have the engine learn the idle. Perhaps your settings are bad somehow. Call them up and ask them to check that and tell them your exact issues.

If you are in NYC in the city you are probably driving light to light every minute or so, that's the mileage I get inthe Bronx and I get stuck in lights every few min. I get about the same gas mileage as you.

this thread is inconclusive.
the OP didnt give any indicators why his mileage is so low.
is he sitting in traffic? how many stop signs and lights are there in his town? how long of a commute? is he idling?
what kind of gas is he using? etc.....so many questions so little time.
please post up the average MPH and average MPG found in the MID.

When i first got the 12 TL, i was averaging 18L/100KM (me canadian, dont really know my units of mph and gallon)
But after couple of hundred kilometers and some 1 to 2 hours of highway cruising at a constant speed of 100km/hr, i started averaging 12.5L/100 KM. Currently by the readings of the multi-information screen, gas consumption is 13L/100Km, and i am basically driving in the city.

Gas i use is 94 urtra from sunoco, I drive 30 miles to work every day, i live in brooklyn ny, and use the highway every day to work. So there really no stop and go traffic at 4:30am to work and at 1pm to home.

Not sure if it applies to Acura or your situatuion, but new cars have a break in period and gas mileage can suffer during that time. I know the last two new cars I owned I experienced that- one being a Honda and the other a Nissan. As I put on some miles, the mileage got better.
The other possible factor is maybe stations in your area have switched over to winter blend. I used to keep up with when areas switched, but I haven't paid attention in awhile so I don't know if that's really appicable for this.
Good luck either way....

NYC stop n' go traffic + big V-6 = crappy mileage.
Also the cold weather can be a huge factor on gas mileage. Poor winter gas mileage can be caused by;
Alternator/Battery Performance
Added Weight
Reduced Aerodynamics
Low Tire Pressure
Winter Gasoline Blends
Good luck

You might check the MPG manually using a calculator, to see if the trip computer reading is correct. just fill the tank, reset the trip odometer, and then on your next fill up, divide the miles on the trip odometer by the gallons you put in the tank. that will verify (or not) the reading on your trip computer. good luck.

The MPG will improve considerably once the car gets about 5K miles on it, but 13 mpg is really out of the norm. Especially since the OP says he does a lot of highway driving.
Two things I've noticed. One, the car's mileage really suffers if you do a lot of idling - drive throughs, stoplights, etc. Two, there's a switch on the dash (lower right side) that allows you to control the AC manually. In full Auto mode, the AC is always activated and will come on even when you wouldn't expect it to do so, such as when it's cool but damp. The car tries to control not only temps but in-cabin humidity levels. I turn my AC off (except when needed for cooling in the summer or defogging) and it has an observable effect on MPG.
My 2010 AWD now shows an average of 25.3. In the summer it was as high as 25.5 (this is the running average over the life of the car). I do about half highway and half suburban/urban driving. I'm very pleased with this mileage from a big-motored, high performance AWD sedan.

OP - Check your tire pressure - match it to what the door says. Also - i usually get 1 or 2 mpg less each winter with the special blends they use in the northeast. Also - it's possible that maybe your alignment is off? I've heard of bad alignments causing reduced mpg.
That is definitely pretty low - but without knowing more about how you drive, and other details it's hard to say.
At the end of the day - it's a 4 door -2 ton 300hp v6 car, you can't expect amazing gas mileage. But you should see closer to 16-20 at least. I get about 18 doing some highway and some city.

Have a 2012 SH-AWD with 2200 miles. 60% city with fair amount of stop and go and remainder highway. I always keep the climate control on auto. Use Shell 93 Octane gas. Live in New England with its crappy winter blend.
Getting 21.2 MPG (checked on my car computer and with plain old paper and pencil)
