It has a weight sensor in the seat to determine if it should fire and if so how much (less for lighter weight). Not normal if a regular sized person is sitting in it -- birng for service. If a lighter child (over 12) is in the seat.... possible it's right on the line of on vs. off.

You didnt state if you had nothing on the seat. If nothing, absolutely nothing, including a shirt, is on the seat it is not normal. The dealer can hook up thier diagnostic computer and see what the seat weight sensor is showing. It is not un heard of for them to be preloaded from the manufacturer. Something as irrelavent as humidity can throw the weight over the disable threshold.

Our '12 TL just started doing this this week. Wife was in the seat and weighs 115 lbs. Repeated yellow messages in the instrument cluster...would alert, stay on for a few seconds, go off and then start all over again.

Recalling from my old Accord this also may happen if somehow water got to the seat. Maybe rain from a rolled down window or just a major Pepsi spil !

it deactivates when there is no one sitting there.

it has a weight sensor.. most vehicles now has different weight sensors.. some detection even distribution of weight and some just detect overall weight. i believe the general cap is about 100 lbs to 125

what i mean was that usually the weight range is between 100-125lbs where the airbags will turn on. it can vary from car to car.
