Whats good everyone?

So I recently purchased an 09 TL SH-AWD Tech, Palladium Metallic. This is my first honda/acura product and I am very pleased with the fit and finish and hospitality that Acura provides. However, I don't know if its just me but there def seems to be an unmatched, not well blended paint job on my car. The dealer said it has a clear title and i don't see any hinges or anything out of alignment that show the car was worked on. The front driver door and rear bumper is darker than the rest of the car. Is this a problem with the 09 overall, was my car possibly in an accident or is it just one of the few TL's that had a bad paint job and how should I take this problem on? Any feedback will be greatly appreciated, thanks.

 

Congrats on the new car. The bumper color mismatch is pretty common (and annoying); if you do a search in the 3G forum, there are a lot of posts about it. In fact, I recently posted a message about it (2012 White TL, link below). I had a 2010 black TL and it had the same issue; but on lighter color TLs, it's more noticeable.

Not sure about your doors though.

thanks for the info. Yeah i'm a bit of a car fanatic and although the car looked flawless on the lot....did a full tour of it, felt the paint all around, looked at it from every angel, all seemed well and right. The paint matched.....i took it home and parked in the shade looked at it from a few feet away and bamm! mismatched door lol. its all good though, rides nice, solid feel and quick. I will bring it up to the dealer when i bring it in for my lumbar support though.

 

clear title doesnt mean anything anymore

I bought an 03 CL-S for the wifey... searched long, hard and far to find one with low miles and no accidents...

Title was clear, Car Fax was clear... even my pretty keen eye, said the car was clear and perfect

2 years later, she gets a nice bang up in her rear quarter panel... right way, i can tell its been fixed/worked because of the cracking (bondo cracks, metal doesnt)... then, i did a double take, and found overspray, and a blend on the door and rear bumper..

carfax/title only mean if the person went through insurance

for all you know, the previous owner might have had somebody back into their door, or a big scratch or something, and paid cash for the repair


as for the bumper mismatch... Welcome to Acura/Honda paint... I've had 5 Acuras in the past 6 years... the only one that didnt have a damn paint mismatch, is the 03 CL-S.. and ironically enough, it was the ONLY used car i bought.. AND it was in a freaking accident!

 

Yeahh..its sucks. Have nothing to go by or trust anymore except a damn good eye and some personal knowledge of what a car looks like when it has been worked on before. Had the samee problem with my Infiniti G35 Coupe now this. its all good though. Im most likely goin to bring it to a body shop to be sanded down and repainted. Its worth the money cause i cant stand looking at it, it pops out so bad!! thanks for the feedback guys

Yeah I have a wdp 2009 with the same issue, wish it's something I would have noticed at purchase...let us know how it turns out if you do...before and after pix also!!
