Nav. failure

2010 TL w/Tech

My nav. system died all of a sudden.

I drove only 5900 miles on it.

The screen shows only Acura logo and 3 to 5 seconds of rearview when I shift to the rear.

It's really unconfortable after getting used to use rearview cam and nav.

I made an appointment tomorrow though.

Is there anyone who suffered the same error?

How do they fix this?

With any "new" tech, there are going to be bugs.
Since you have a 2010, you might be the first to encounter this.

Report back to us on how they solve it.

Glad you're still under warranty. The stealer should take care of you.

On the newer Acura models there have been some issues with the navigation systems freezing up or restarting while being on for some time. From my understanding it's the software, as NavTeq is doing trial runs for all new customers for the "Real Time Traffic & Weather" and it's causing a lot of slow down in the system. This may not be the case with yours but as stated we have seen several cars come in in the past couple weeks with a similar issue. I would still have the local dealer check things out, after all that is what us "stealers" are for!

I got a call from the dealer, they decided to replace the whole unit, which includes HDD.

I think it's much better for me.

Hopeit lasts forever or broke before my warranty expires.

If a hard drive is going to fail its usually in the first few months. If they make it past that, they usually last for a long time.

I thought I could get my car back but the dealer called me that they need to hold the car for more days. The reason is that Acura HQ called and asked them to hold for them to dispatch some guys to investigate what happend on a new(yeah, it's only been 6 or 7 months) vehicle.

Will it be a good news for me or not?
Emm...anyhow I have a loaner.

Let's see what they find.

Dealer said they found the reason of my navi. failure.

It's all because of my USB stick (Sandisk 4GB, Cruzer).

When they removed the usb stick, everything worked fine.
And also they could produce the same error when they plugged in again.

But I've been using the same USB stick since my previous car(2009 TSX w/tech).

I'll keep my eyes on this.
