Moonroof Will Not Auto-Close or Reverses Direction
Moonroof Will Not Auto-Close or Reverses Direction
Hello All,
I was hoping I could get a little assistance with a minor issue I'm having with my sunroof not wanting to close all way automatically. I can close the sunroof one way which is by holding the wind guard down while holding the close button. When I press the autoclose switch it will retract once it touches wind guard. Could it be I may need to grease up wind guard springs? Any advice would be greatly appreciated before I have to take it in and spend money I may not have too. Thank you in advance my Acura fiends!

Yes, it wouldn't hurt anything to grease the springs, also check and make sure there is nothing blocking the path. Perhaps the windguard isn't lowering like it should, causing the stoppage. I had a rubber piece that was starting to come off the windguard. I pushed it back into place. It wasn't blocking anything, but check yours to make sure it's not in a weird position that would bind things up.

I have the same issue on my 2013 SH-AWD Advance, there is a TSB for it for 2013 models so it is a known issue. I am out of warranty so have just gotten in the habit of holding down the wind guard but upon seeing your post I will try some grease! Thanks for the tip!
I have the same issue with my 2012 TL. The sunroof opens just fine. During the closing, it will make it halfway then retracts once it hits the wind guard. I will check for a blockage, but for the grease... I assume you aren't talking about WD40. What type of grease do you use on springs?
Thx,

Cleaning and WD40'ed mine today worked like a charm. Took a rag and cleaned off the springs and any moving part involved in the wind guard. Then applied WD40 and tested. Doesn't retract and performs as normal.
Probably over the weekend, I will get actual grease as I would assume WD40 is a temporary solution.

I had mine fixed. See link https://acurazine.com/forums/fourth-...letins-945428/
Wow. All dealers are not created equal.
its basically just greasing the track. If there’s a dry spot on the Draco it perceives it as an obstruction causing it to reverse. Mine did it anytime moisture in the air as present. Just grease the track and it should be fine.
Theres is a special anti-seize grease to be used. Even after the fix mine did it again a couple years later and instead of paying the dealer I greased it and it hasn’t done it since. If we share the same problem

it was a while I cant recall...Make a call to the Your local Acura Dealer, tell them you want to re grease the track on your moon roof, it came in a little packet that looked like salad dressing, it wasn't Acura branded either., It was white with blue writing on the package. I recall the words Anti-Seize on it. Make sure to use gloves!
