Metal Grinding/Whining Sound 2011 Acura TL
While I'm driving I get this grinding/whinning sound that seems to be coming from the front right of the car. It occurs only when I am accelerating, not while coasting. Usually at 2000-3000 RPM and sometimes again at 5000 rpm. It's not linked to a particular gear or speed.
I took it to my mechanic and he said couldn't find anything so it might the the transmission and it would cost me $2000 to fix it up.
Some different ideas I've found looking around are wheel bearing, driveshaft, heat shield, or power steering (as far as I know the power steering is electrical)
Just wondering if I could get help narrowing down the problem, or shown where/what to look at.
Here's a video aswell

if the car is in park, and you rev up, do you hear it?

it could be a lot of things! Timing belt tensioner or accessory belt tensioner, bad motor or trans mounts, etc.

My car has been making the same noise at the same rpms. I looked under my car and it looked like the outer mesh part of the flex pipe (on the downpipe/jpipe) was rusted out (still wrapped around just not connected to the actual piping) and I have been betting that at those RPM the exhaust hits a certain noise frequency that shakes the piss out of it. At least I hope that's it. Lmk if yours looks similar bc I haven't changed mine out yet as this happened in the last month and the aftermark jpipe I want has been out of stock, XLR8V2.

As they said it could be multiple factors. I also had a grinding noise only when turning. It was my passenger front wheel bearing. Changed it and the noise no longer exists. Try accelerating, turning to the roght or left to se if the noise increases or fades away. Good luck in your findings.
