Manual tranny--

I've had the same problem with my 2006 TL, 2007 TL Type-S, and now with the 2010 TL HPT! The third gear resists being engaged. They changed the linkage in my 2007 TL. Is anyone else experiencing this? If so, have you informed Acura? My dealer says Acura has had no complains. I'd appreciate any feedback/info.

Yup. Same here. You can do a search for one of the posts here about the 3rd gear issue.

On my 2010 TL 6MT, when I shift from 2nd-3rd, 3rd gear sometimes (not always) pops out of gear into neutral. I have to reshift from neutral to 3rd. I get this problem too sometimes when shifting into Reverse. If I have to guess, it tends to happen during the earlier morning commutes, or when I go home in the evening after the car has sat outside for the whole day.

I agree, the feeling when I shift from 2nd-3rd is as if the gear does not always engage. Feels "mushy" sometimes.

I've taken it to the dealership a few times, and they cannot duplicate the problem (of course), so they are not doing anything. I suggested they change the transmission fluid, but they will not. The dealership of course, says Acura HQ has no hx of complaints.

I'm at odds at what to do. Any thoughts? If this is a chronic characteristic of the transmission, I guess I'll just have to live with it (annoyingly). If however, this problem is suggestive of something worse/expense later, let's just say I won't be happy.

Yup - same thing here. It only happens when it's cold outside. I had no problems at all from April - Nov of this year, but once the temp dropped below 30, I've had 3rd gear pop out 3 times or so. I'm contemplating taking it to the dealer, but it's not that big of a deal. Also since the warranty on the trans is 75,000 miles, I've got quite a bit of time if this starts to happen more often.

I'd be curious to see if this only happened to people in northern (colder) climates.

You too huh? Yeah, not too big of a deal, just annoying I have to reshift in a $44k car, and makes me OCD to think I might grind the gears accidentally.

For those considering using the GM Syncromesh fluid, I love to hear if it resolves the shifting issues.

Funny how Acura denies any issues with the 4G TL 6MT, esp when it seems to have inherited the 3G TL quirk.

Mine hadn't done this until I saw the first post about it in another thread. Wish I hadn't read it, because now it's a daily issue.

Try short shifting. I had the same issue until I remembered the gear box had a short throw. Once I adjusted to short shifting the problem was solved.
