Key Fob Issues

The last couple of mornings when my wife gets in the car, her key (Driver 1) is not picked up and I am having to play with her key to make it work. I have to unlock & lock the doors, walk away from the car and back and all of a sudden it'll work. Anybody have this problem or know what could be causing it?
It seems to recognize my key (Driver 2) right away?
Maybe the car just wants me to drive?

Try plugging it into the "interior key slot" and see of that helps. Battery low?

I have had the same issue with my keys. After a fwe seconds it picks up the key to open the door, but then when I get in, it still says to put the key in the slot. The dealer checked it out and said it was normal, sometimes the transmitter just doesn't pick it up.

I have also noticed that if I have my iPhone close to the fob (even in a different pocket, but close enough) it doesn't sense the key, but if I move the phone it will work.

I've found this to be the case with a variety of phones, including blackberries, and a variety of cars, including both the TL and most Audi and VW products.

Acura called said there was nothing wrong. When wife went to get car the fob did not work. The tech came out hooked it up right there and got some code that said the battery had been disconnected. (No Me) When I went to have the oil changed last month, they checked the battery charging system, so they are the last ones to mess with the battery. Anyway, he reset something and they started to work again. See how long it lasts.

P.S. We also have two iPhones and they have been giving us problems with the car

I notice it's very sporadic. Have not had issues for a while.
Not sure if i had mentioned this in the past, but I also notice that when I get in the car (I am Driver 2) the seat does not go all the way back even though I have it set to go as far as it can because I am tall. I still have to push the back setting and it will go back another 1/2"-1". Anyone else notice this?

No. I'm in the same situation (driver 2 with seat all the way back) and when I open the door the seat goes back all the way. You may want to have the dealer check this.

2010 Acura TL Key Fob Issue

I'm having similar problem with my 2010 TL. I'm leasing the car and got it about 3 months ago. I first had an issue starting the car with the push button a few days after I picked up the car. Had to put the key in the slot and it worked.

Then, twice my car completely died on me (no lights on dash at all) and I had to have it jump started. Took the car to the dealership and they said nothing is wrong, not even the battery. They told me I should have the car towed to them if it happens again so they can find out better.

Finally, the car wouldn't start today. This time the lights on the dash were on. So I put the key in the slot and it started.

To summarize, I've had 2 instances where the car had to be jump started as nothing (even putting the key in the slot) would start the car. I've also had 2 instances where I had to put the key in the slot to start.

I don't have an Iphone. I just have a basic LG phone so I'm not sure if it's the interference problem.

I'm so disappointed and angry at all this happening with this brand new car.

Any suggestions?

I know if I have my key FOB in the same pocket as my phone, it won't work. Put it in the other pocket, away from my cell phone, it works.

Try that. Something's interfering with your FOB....or the battery is weak, or lastly, the FOB is bad (but if it works sometimes, I'd look at the cell phone thing).

Recent Issue

Today I just had an issue with my key fob. I put it in the slot and the damn thing ate it like it was a MAC card. I pulled so hard that the triangluated wire holder BENT! It wasn't coming out. I had a notion that maybe it was too cold. I drove down the road for 20 minutes with the heat set at 82. I pulled into a diner, directly across the street from an Acura dealer and before I pulled into the lot, I shut the car off. WAH LAH!! The key fob came out. I 'm never gonna use that slot again. What the hell happens if you can't get that thing out. ANYONE CAN STEAL YOUR CAR WITH A KEY! OY VEY!!
