Oil change juste made.
I'm doing a valve adjustment and I was surprised to see my back bank valvetrain not "orange" like the front bank. My car consumes some oil, I'd say maybe max 1 quart every ~40% oil life (my measurements could be wrong, I have it for 18 months but I work from home so I barely made 1 oil chage since I have it). I watch it so it doesn't get below minimum, but that color difference is worrying me a bit. Could that be that my back valvetrain had oil starvation? Just before the operation, the oil level was optimal. Front valvetrain normal color, back one isn't covered in oil as much. Why?
Was the car in for oil consumption repairs before? What did the previous owner do that you can remember.
No, It did not meet the minimum oil consuption to pass under warrenty. Didn't do much I guess, in fact I did notice the first time I checked the oil level, it wasn't showing on the dip stick. That was 1.5 years ago. Can previous oil starve have cause permanent décoloration in the valvetrain even to this day?
front bank has the PCV in it so it's going to be dirtier than the rear.
Thanks! I was begining to think about this fact too.
I instaled a takeda intake few weeks ago but it showed me too rich codes so I reverted back to stock. I still had it for hundreds of kms so maybe it got more durty from the uneven combustion I had.
If i remember correctly, with some intakes you have to move the air temperature sensor so it reads properly
