Headlights won't turn off in daylight
I've got a new 2012 TL Tech package & noticed on my drive home yesterday I had a set of lights on (the innermost - closest to engine) in daylight. There is no indicator on the dash display that they are on and If I flip to "auto" they switch off & the DRL set comes on.
If I put everything in the "off" position, it seems like they would go off, but they continue to be on... is there a setting I might be missing somewhere??

Are you sure you have it in Auto and not Headlights On?

Yeah, I'm sure. The real kicker is they never shut off with the switch in the "Off" position.
Not sure if the Canadian thing was meant halfway to be a joke, but I guess it could make a difference. I think I remember seeing on the sticker that 80% of the parts were manufactured in North America, 20% Japan & assembled in Ohio.

Even in Canada you aren't required to keep your headlights on are you? I know that is what the DRL's are supposed to be for. Sounds to me like a trip to the dealer.

I don't think you get highbeams without the headlights being on. You can however "flash to pass" the highs by pulling back on the stalk. If it's not the DRL's that are what the OP is referring to as always on, and neither of the other suggestions offered, it may very well be that a trip to the dealer is in order.

ok, well after a call to the dealership & re-reading Treblig's post, I now realize I'm a knucklehead & that those ARE the Daytime Running Lights in question.
I was under the impression the lights that come on with the "Auto" setting were considered the DRLs. I didn't realize these were supposed to stay on all the time--thought that was more of a Euro / Canadian (as mentioned) thing. Guess you never really see them unless you get too close behind a shiny bumper that can reflect them.
What is confusing is re-reading the manual... I still feel like I should see an indicator light that they are on.

With the headlight switch off or in the position, the high beam headlights and the high beam indicator come on with reduced brightness when you turn the ignition switch* to the ON (II) position and release the parking brake. They remain on until you turn the ignition switch off, even if you set the parking brake.
The headlights revert to normal operation when you turn them on with the switch.

It's hard to see in the daylight, but if you look closely you can see the the highbeam indicator is barely lit up when the DRL's are on. At least in my car it is.

There is no indicator that they are on, but I believe there is an indicator that they are off. I say I believe because I haven't tried it yet. In my previous RL, when the parking brake was on with the car running, the DRLs would turn off and there would be a DRL OFF displayed in the display. I will confirm/or deny that theory later on today.
