Engine & Tranny Questions

Hi all,

I've read all over the forum and found a few post relating to similar issue i am having. Please delete this post if I am duplicating something already online....

Transmission:
After driving and the trans oil is warmed up, I have a shimmy in second gear between 2-3k. I also notice when downshifting in there is a delay. IE the computer wants the car to shift but the car takes an extra second, because it bangs from 3rd to 2nd. Do I have a torque converter issue at 55,155k? I called Acura, they advised me to take it into a dealer, and I will....of course they want me to take it in lol....The car's been doing this for a good 5000 miles... Originally, I thought it was my driving and perhaps i was too hard on the car, but lately it's been more often.

Engine:
In the morning, the car whines for a good minute to two. Is this bad, or a common nature of these 3.5 engines? Figured while the car is at the dealer, it may need to be addressed. Once warmed up, the engine is fine. No oil consumption issues or anything.

Thanks for any suggestions

Transmission: get a transmission oil change... that alone often makes transmission run smoothly. It is not a double clutch transmission so the delay is normal, but an entire second is too much. There may be a software update pending, ask the dealer. But do the oil change, maybe 2-3 back to back to clean up crude oil stuck all over the valves.

Engine: There are lots of types of whining. Lift the hood and see if you can pin point where the whining comes from (left, right, front, back etc).

Yea for now unless they did the torque converter update on it while they had it in the shop because there is one for the 4th gen TL's(just like the one of the 07+ mdx) I would call them and ask if they did or not because only doing a drain and fill on the trans will only help for a little while

New question...... Then what happens after "a little while"?
They said bring the car back in 30k.....Why? The oil can last 60.

I'll call tomorrow, thanks. Is it a silent update?
