I have a 2010 Acura TL-SH. Coming up my road yesterday that has a somewhat steep hill and out of nowhere i hear this loud knocking.Sounded horrible when i got in the driveway and i immediately turned her off.I let her sit and then started her back up to try and track down where the noise was coming from and it was the front of the motor right next to the oil fill cap.I pulled off the cap and the bolt thats there when looking straight down is bouncing. It obviously came loose and if im not mistaken i believe thats one of the camshaft bolts? Any idea what could be damaged if any and how bad? This car loves throwing problems at me.Any input would really help! This bolt right here is loose
Let me re-word that. Its not “bouncing” but from the vibrations of the motor its moving around because its loose.I can even move it with my finger when the motor is off.I did have work done last year.A valve job actually $3500 later.Timing belt snapped and bent a few valves.Head was stripped down and sent out to get machined.Im starting to think they did a piss poor job putting it back together like not properly torqued? But a year later? Im just trying to get an idea of what kind of damage i can expect from something like this happening.Going to contact the shop that did the work.I mean they were the last ones to work on it.
Here you go. If the bolt is lose, the job was botched. Come back to them with complains and ask for pictures with valve cover off. Also your downstream oxygen sensor bank 2 wiring is missing from the clip.
How many miles was on the car when TB snapped?

you cant get an idea of what kind of damage to expect until the engine torn down...
because we werent there installing it, we have no idea what your shop did or did not do.

Bolt bouncing? Never seen this before.... Are you sure? Did you have engine work done?

I have my car Top engine rebuild, everything ok but I didn't torqued the CamshaftBolt, I was driving ok suddenly I heard knocking sound like diesel engine when I look at the hood then to the timing gear connected to the Camshaft my Bolt was missing, but I thought my car was done but still I buy a bolt same size with the Camshaft bolt, when I put it in then start my car the knocking wasn't there anymore, then I remove it again and start my car the knocking sound came back then Inputbit on again knocking was gone. It was weird how come a camshaft bolt can cause knocking? I think for my opinion something to do with the balance and vibration.
The bolt in your picture is one of the rocker arm assembly bolts. There are 12-14 of these bolts per side and they need to be torqued down in a specific sequence, two turns at a time, until torqued to spec. The tech manual also states that the valve adjustments bolts (on the valve end of each rocker arm) need to be loosened and back out as far as they will go prior to installing this assembly. This all minimizes the stress on the rocker arm assembly as you torque it down and some valves springs will be compressing for those valves that are open or opening for current cam position. Did your shop follow this procedure? It adds time to do it right.
Another thing that stands out in this thread is that the timing belt broke before 90,000 miles. Makes me wonder about the history and abuse of this engine.
