Electrical problems/ Dash shuts off/ Navi
Hey Guys,
It's been a while since i last posted. I have been having some weird issues lately..
In morning after the car has sat overnight, about 10 minutes into my drive i have had the SH-AWD light turn on, Brake Failure, Navigation turn off and stereo.
The navi goes black with the stereo the dash lights up like a Christmas tree. This all happens within a couple seconds then turns back on like nothing ever happened.
I brought it to the dealer they checked the codes they said it was a communication error and was most likely a glitch.
two weeks later it has now happened additional 3 times but these recurring times it only shuts off the navi and stereo for about 3 seconds then turns back on. again always after the car has sat for a few hours.
I booked an appointment for August 15 but figured maybe someone has dealt with this problem before
2009 Acura TL Sh Awd 145,000 KM i still have Acura Plus warranty until 160K hoping this is covered?
Thanks in advance

Okay so here is some news from the dealer,
Corrosion on the two main wiring harness which water was able to penetrate through the firewall due to a AMP power cable running through the rubber gourmet when the hood latch cable. Acura plus warranty doesn't cover this so i am SOL and they are trying to clean all the wires if that doesn't work well then i have to replace both main wiring harness
Here is a link on what was happening while driving

Sorry that was vague, yes it was a power cable from the battery running to an additional AMP in the trunk. The rubber gourmet got loose over time i guess and allowed water to run into the car.
I had a very similar problem. Water was entering and my carpet on driver side was alway wet. So far i have no electrical issues but your post scares me a bit. I know there are other wires there but i don't see how they can rust? They loop arund but don't touch the foor where the water was standing.

Well i got my car back from the dealer, they ended up taking half the harness from a written off TL and cutting my old harness off. So far so good and they only charged me $490 tax in to do the repair.
At the risk of a highjack, my wife is currently shopping for a new (used) car, and test drove a 2011 Ford Explorer last night. Apparently, when she started it up, the "MyFord Touch" screen failed to initiate, and the back-up camera didn't work. She drove it for about 10 minutes, then came back, and parked. When she re-started the engine, it lit up fine. The seller said that was "normal" in the sense that it happened from time to time, and related to a "system maintenance update". Sounded like a load, but then I googled, and it turns out, that they do that. Owners call it the "Black Screen of Death", and apparently just live with it.
Makes me see my TL in a whole new light. All of a sudden, the 8 second wait to click through the liability warning isn't such a big deal.
