Hello guys,
I drive an Acutra TL 2011 with 146K miles on it, and I do my best to take good care of it. This car has lived with me in Chicago, NC, upstate NY, 2 years in AZ and now I have found my home in MD. My problem is almost what is being described here. The whole roof sealing is falling apart, both sides & going down to the front windshield. I went to Karen Acura in VA, and they quoted me close to $1100 and I backed out. I want to keep this car and would like to fix it. I have done a few simple DIYs on this car, but I just can't do this one. I am not sure if the issue described in the thread is the same, and so, I am wondering if anyone knows where I can go besides an Acura dealer to have this done or, is there an Acurazine member in the area who can help. I am willing to compensate their time. Not if the pictures offer a good idea of the issue, I am afraid when it rains, that water will fill the car etc. Please help, thanks.
Trust me, do it yourself, its not that hard. Just order the moldings from the dealer and pick them up to save on shipping. I followed this guide and did it myself pain free in a couple hours taking my time.
Also, to give you piece of mind, there is just a channel below this and water will not get in the car so you should be fine there.
$1100 to do this job is insanely expensive esepcially since it just takes time and insnt difficult.
@AcuraorAkira
The rear window piece does install into the roof molding but you may be able to get lucky and get it out safely but if anything bends keep in mind it may not seat correctly on the clips and will not seat to the roof correctly. I learned with this job, dont rush it and DONT bend them as it can mess up the appearance of the molding and then you have to replace the entire piece.
Thanks so much, I will check the parts around with dealers and see... $1100 is insane indeed.
