Climate Control Recirculate not working

Hi,

I've got an '09 Acura TL, and I think that my climate control recirculate control isn't working. The light turns on and off, but the fan sound and air flow does NOT change when actuating the button, and I don't hear any door movement. (If I listen below the dash, I do hear a VERY faint sound like a small motor running for a second or so after pushing the button).

Am I correct in thinking that I should hear a sound difference in the air flow with recirc. on vs off? Can y'all hear the door moving?

Has anyone else had and fixed this issue? I know that on some of the earlier models this was a common issue, but I haven't seen it on the 4th gen. models.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions, I hope to pull the dash apart tomorrow...

I do notice a slight increase in air flow when using recirculate. Though a door must be moving when switching to or from recirculate, I don't really hear any sound when it does.

Easy test. Get behind a diesel truck at a stop light with the recirculate on and see if you smell diesel after 10 seconds of having the fan on high. If not, it's working.

Thanks for the responses! After reading through this, now I'm not certain I'm actually having an issue. :/

I DO think that I smell outside smells, and pressing recirculate doesn't fix that issue. And I don't hear even a hint of a fan noise change. I've tried it with the climate control in auto mode in both cool and heat modes with no differences.

I did see a procedure for the climate control self test in the maintenance manual, but it didn't show an error. This all started last summer when I felt that the a/c wasn't cooling in the same way that it used to. The air is still cold, but the car won't cool down as fast as it used to. I was trying to troubleshoot that when I noticed the I don't hear or feel any change at all in the fan noise/air flow when pressing the Recirc. button.

I'm not sure where to go from here. I kind of wish I had another Acura in this body style to compare. Hmmm, maybe a trip to the dealer to test drive a used one.. .lol

Ok, another update. I played around more with the climate control in all modes, but with the fan all the way to high. I'm definitely hearing the fan sound change to louder when it's in recirculate mode. So, that seems to be working fine.

I guess i'll have to wait till next summer and see how the A/C cools then.

Thanks again to all who responded. This group is the greatest!!
