Today I attempted to start my car as I normally do, I put my foot on the brake, pushed the ignition button and the control panel lit up indicating I had an ABS problem. This is a new car (6 months) with only 3300 miles on it. To date I have never had a problem. I attempted to start the ignition process over again, with the same end result. I exited the car attempted to lock it with the fob, and re-entered the car attempting to try again. Again I had the same end result. I am new to this forum and I am looking for advice as to if there is a "quick fix." Of course it is Sunday so all the service departments are closed and Roadside Asst. would only offer to tow the vehicle not provide technical advice. I am not too mechanically/technically inclined, so if there is an equivallent similar to a "Control/Alt/Delete" short cut can someone please contact me. Thanks.

Keep your foot on the brake and take the car out of park, put it back in park making sure the shifter is centered (mine is flaky) and then try to start the car again.

Also, if you look in the manual, there is a section that explains how to try and force start the car. I beleive you have to hold the start button for 15 seconds, but I don't remember exactly.

Pages 505-506 in the manual....

an abs fault should not cause the car to not start. How is the battery? If you had low battery voltage could cause all kinds of faults. Most of the control units need the 12 or more volts to operate if it drops below 9 volts things start to act weird.Did the car even crank over or try to crank?

Need more info. Does the battery have a green eye. Check the hole in the engine cover. Look down with a flashlight or sufficient ambient lighting. If there is a green dot called and "eye" the battery voltage should be good. If there is a bad cell in the battery you may have abnormal cranking. Any abnormal cranking? Lots of clicking noises like a machine gun? Not noises at all just push the button and no crank? Obviously the meter is lighting up. Do you have navigation? If so check your mailbox. Your HIP most likely left you a DTC message. Record the DTC # and affected system and post it here to get a much better response.
