Can't get the Navi to switch to black night mode with headlights on

All
I recently bought a 2012 AWD Advance. I can't get the navigation display to change to the predominantly black night mode with the headlights on. I can only get it to dim, but its still mainly white background. my 2005 TL was easily changed to black when the highlights were turned on. i have read the manual, but can't get it to work. Perhaps i am assuming incorrectly that this is even possible. any help would be appreciated.

Did you push the button under the "CANCEL"-button? It's left of the big rotating nob.

Sometimes the Navi on my 2010 will stay white with the lights on if it is not quite dark enough outside yet like at dusk. I believe the sensor controls the white screen until the darkened one is truly needed. That being said, make sure you have the settings menu set to make the change.

yes i have pushed the button under the cancel button. Its the one that cycles the navi screen from daytime setting to night-time setting to off all together. when i scroll from daytime to night-time, all it does in my case (with or without the headlights on) is dim the daylight setting to a less bright setting (but still white biased.) I have even tried adjusting the brightness settings with the headlights on and with the navi screen in night mode. I may run it by the dealer and see if they can make it work without an actual repair being necessary. It doesn't bother me too much, but I would rather have it working correctly.

Thanks for the feedback, and I will post if I actually get it corrected!!

OH, I see. You're saying that the day-screen has the same color as the night-screen, and only the brightness changes?

You can set the color of the screens in the Setup.
In this case the white color is my daytime, and at night I have it black.

Check the setup-menu. There you can change that. Manual FTW
