Brake problem?

hi guys...i have a 2010 acura tl fwd tech...in the morning or after the car has been sitting all day when i go to start the car sometimes the brake pedal is very firm and hard to push down...other times its normal and very soft to to the touch...i live in connecticut and noticed this problem didnt start until the weather got colder...dealer says the car is fine and this is caused from a vacuum boost but im not sure...any feedback?

Doesn't this happen before or after you start the car.

I would guess that the brake fluid is just a little thicker due to the cold weather.

If you could duplicate your brake concerns to the dealership and the guys there said it was normal, then there is nothing to worry about.

But if the brake pedal sinks to the floor at any time when the engine is running, then you really have a brake problem.

Maybe your feeling the pedal prior to the engine starting, or if you press the brake pedal a few times when it is running, you will feel a harder pedal, even worse when your on an incline and the abs holds pressure to prevent roll back. I live in Connecticut also, but I have a 6mt so I never feel the brake pedal upon start up

Brake fluid change/flush is recommended every 3 years. That means a lot of '09s are due for this. How long did it take to do this for those that have done it already?

It's "normal" according to my dealer. i've brought it up with my dealer on multiple occasions. apparently it's just like that. seems weird to me still since i've NEVER had any car do that before... ever.

For those who dont know what it's like, yes, it's exactly as if u pumped the brakes while the car was off. the second u turn it on, the brakes soften to normal travel.

Don't you need to hit the brakes for the start button? or do 6mt's start differently?

No, 6mt requires clutch pedal only

Our 09 has started to do this almost every day after sitting all night. MY 2012 does not and my 2012 actually has better brakes (event though it's newer), but the pedal travel and feel is not as good on the 09 and the pads have 3/4 life left still.

It is HARD to press that pedal down for us to start the car in the morning. We really have to stand on that brake pedal some because it's so hard. This is the only car that has done this.

Since our TL is scheduled to go in on Wednesday to get both front seat rails replaced due to movement (TSB) we asked them to look at this too.

I seriously think there is an issue especially since it never use to do it.

Thats interesting. I'm only at 1800mi. and I notice this as well, just adding input, whether it's an issue or not my 12 TL AWD acts the same.
