Battery Indicator Light on while driving

As the title said. While I was driving all of the sudden, the Battery Indicator light went on and need the battery to be replace. Is that common? I thought when you start up the car, the Battery Indicator light would come on. Could it be some wiring issue? I got my car back in June of this year. I know my car is still under warranty but like to know if anyone encounter this?
Thanks

The battery warning light can also indicate charging system problems.

seems common. i remember reading on another site that a TL owner had his car shut off while on the highway. May not be the same prob. best bet is to take it back to the dealer. All the best!

Took it in the dealer last Friday. Tech said there was a surge of current draw. So it was slowly draining the battery. I noticed that I plugged in a set of DRL LED into a wrong socket a week before that because I was clearing my headlamp. So they charge up the battery and I took it home that notice and did found that the socket was plugged wrong. So I fixed that and now everything is good. My friend at the dealer said the 4G computer sometimes gets very sensitive as far as wiring up stuff. So everything is good now. No error messages.
