Bad battery?

Bad battery?

Not sure if I have a bad battery in my 2012 TL SHAWD/TECH, or if it was the fault of the valet at the hotel I stayed in. I had them fetch my car after an overnight stay, and they came back and said the battery was dead and needed to be jumped. After they jumped the car, I drove for about 20 minutes and after about 15 the replace battery message went away. When I came back to my car I got the battery low message, and again this morning when going to the gym. After coming home from the gym and taking driving to work I have not seen the battery low warning again. The day I took it to the hotel, I had taken it in for its first oil change, and the battery/charging system tested OK. Should I take it to the dealer still, or do you think I should be OK now?

go back to dealer to get resolve.

The battery was probably drained. The valet may have left something turned on when he parked the car, or he may be enjoying the ELS sound system at full blast for a super extended period of time.

I had the same battery problem on my 2009 Acura TL too (43,900 mi). Woke up in the morning, battery died. I jumped it and brought it to the dealer and they gave me a brand new battery free of charge. I've been reading the forums and it seems to happen quite often with a lot of Acuras. No worries, take it to the dealer and they'll handle it. Acura is pretty good about service while the car is still under warranty.

This just suddenly comes across my mind.

Doesn't the 2012 TL has a new battery management system (BMS) that will prevent dead batteries from happening ?

^ Yes, the 2012's have the battery management system. It shuts down accessories if it senses the battery being weak to start the car.

My previous 2008 had a similar issue. Battery went dead overnight but after a jump I never had a problem with it again. Took it to the dealer right after the issue and they could find nothing wrong but said that sometimes the BT link for the phone fails to shut off leading to a possible drain. Doubt that is your problem though but I would have the dealer check out both battery and electrical system.
