Backup Camera yellow guide lines

I have a 2010 TL SH-AWD. The backup camera used to come on and immediately show the yellow guide lines upon putting the car in reverse. Now, when backing up, I need to wait a few seconds after putting it in reverse and the camera coming on for the guidelines to appear. Is this normal?

If I start the car and immediately put it in reverse, it takes a moment to show the lines. But If I start and give it a few moments, like the time it takes to click through the lawyer screen, then they show the same time the camera displays.

I like that.... the priority is on displaying the backup image, even if the computer is still in the process of "booting".

My 2012 is so slow that I wonder if something is wrong with it. I engage reverse and sometimes I'm finished backing up before the camera even comes up on the screen, much less the yellow grid lines.

That doesn't sound normal. Mine is immediate. I'd take it in.

no its normal.. even when i first picked up the car new from dealer it happened..

you have to understand that the navi does need to load up.. i believe it runs off a HDD just like a computers hard drive.. if it ran off a solid state drive then it would come on instantly.. but its a HDD so gotta wait for it to load up.

next time, give it 10-15 secs before you put in reverse right after start up.. you should be fine.

This is normal. The rear view cam system needs time to boot up. Sometimes faster, and sometimes slower.

My 2014 comes on immediately. The mazda cx9 I previously had took 15-20 secs like others have mentioned.

i experiece this today it is a machiine so it takes time to load and all but when new as soon as you turn the car on and pop it in reverse it should come on with the guideline Im driving a tsx tech today 2013 and i turn the car on and put it in reverse it came on instantly but for my 2010 tl i would have to wait on the computer to properly boot up... We know the processor on the tsx is faster because it is newer but, but as time goes on it becomes slow or maybe has alot of cache on the system?..

Here is a video I took today showing the response time with my 2012. I started the car and immediately shifted into reverse. The image came up within a second and the guides a few seconds later. You can't see it, but had I shifted back into park right after the guides appeared, the screen would go back to the boot screen.

I conclude that the backup camera has priority over the boot sequence and that's why it shows immediately. And the guides are one of the first things to be enabled during the startup. That's why they display even though the computer is still booting.

Turn the car on then wait 15 seconds before you switch gears into reverse.

I think you are just doing it too fast. As many users have said if I go into reverse quickly the guidelines take time. But if I let the car run for a couple seconds... like the time it takes to put my seatbelt on, the guidelines pop up immediately.

If you wait 15 seconds and it still takes a lil while after hitting reverse then something is up.
