Amazing brake life, but......

I do mostly highway driving, but I have a long commute (about 100 miles/day). At about 115,000 miles, during an annual inspection performed at my dealer, I was told that I needed new rear brake pads to pass the inspection. I wasn't surprised that I needed new brakes for the first time in 115,000 miles, but the REAR brakes? I thought those lasted longer than the front brakes. I still have my original front brake pads.

WoW! 115k miles and barely need new brake pads? I think that's definitely awesome! But yes, front brake pads usually wear out faster than rears since weight goes towards the front when braking.

In theory, the fronts should go first, but it's been my recent experience that the rears are the first to need replacement. I don't understand why.

weird that you guys have inspection.. if that law applied here in california.. half the cars will be off the streets.. and thats a fact.

change the pads, get it inspected, and get it passed.. if it is required, then do it.. no solution here

Replaced the rear brakes for the 1st time at 150k miles. Still on the original fronts. NC has yearly state inspections and brakes are part of it.

D - differential? I have not specifically requested that it be inspected. All service has been at the dealership, so if it's on their list of inspections, that's the only way they may have done that.

Even in Taxachussetts, there are some things that just can't be regulated!!! It may be called the "D-nut exemption clause".
