Is it an alignment issue, or new tires needed?
Hello everyone - I have had an issue the last week with my alignment I believe because my car wants to drift left. And also, my steering wheel shakes and wobbles. If I let go of the steering wheel, the car starts to drift left and the steering still wobbles. I took it to my mechanic which he said that I needed new tires because he said its not the alignment, but my front left tire is split on the inside. I am in need of new tires, but wanted to make sure that its true and not the alignment as well. Has this ever happened to anyone before? Thanks
how many miles do you have on the car? How many miles are the tires? How often, if at all were they rotated? When was your last alignment?
I get an alignment every time I have new tires put on. If your alignment is off, it can and usually does cause uneven wear to the inside or outside of the tire.
If you haven't had an alignment in awhile, just get new tires and an alignment and you should be fine.

Tire pull is the usual problem your car feel out of alignment. If you hit something that's a different story. You do not need an alignment when you change tires. If you change tires every 2 years then spending $65 is probably worth it so you are sure there isn't any premature tire wear. Some tire shops will say you have to have an alignment when you get new tires and that would be wrong. Tires have zero to do with your suspension alignment. If you had an alignment done recently and need new tires then you are ok.
