Any one have a problem with rock damage to the AC condenser which is located in front of the engine radiator. After 2 weeks of highway driving the AC stopped working in my 09TL. When I brought it into our local ACURA dealership I was shocked to be told that the condenser required replacement due to a crack (leak) on one of the vanes. Appearanyly a rock had struck the condenser. I have never had this happen in any vehicle I have owned in the past. The dealership wanted $800 to replace it. They explained to me the damage was no different than a rock hitting the windshield and causing damage and would not be covered under warrenty. I left without repairing the condenser. After calling the ACURA service rep and explaining my dissatisfaction they agreed to talk to the dealership and replace the unit on warrenty. Good on ACURA for addressing this. However the risk of the same damage re-occuring is still there. Has anyone else experienced this problem? I think the condenser is vulnerable to ongoing rock damage. In the interm I installed a sheet of stainless mesh in front of the condenser to provide protection.
