Unhappy 2012 TL Ceiling / Sunroom Rattle

I am from Vancouver, Canada.

my 2012 TL's giving me some noise when I am driving.

The noise is from the passenger side ceiling/sunroom area..

It is not very loud, but boy it is super irritating...

I took my car to the Acura dealership where I bought my car to show them since I have an extended bumper to bumper warranty, but they said it would cost $120/hr just for them to take a look for a diagnosis.. Then they will figure out if it can be covered by the warranty or not. If it's covered by the warranty, they will waive that diagnosis cost and fix the problem for free. And if it's not covered by the warranty, I have to pay it all.

But I am like.. what if they take a day to diagnose and tell me "oh it's not covered by the warranty, sorry but you have to pay $1000 :p"?? It is too risky..

Has anyone experienced same situation as I am now??

Shove some foam tape between the liner and ceiling that solved the rattle for me

If it is easily reproducible, they should waive the diagnostic fee. I am getting the creaking noise a bit on my 2009 and I noticed if I close the sunroof visor, the noise is less pronounced. It maybe a just adding some lubrication to the sunroof mechanical parts.

I also have the sunroof rattle, it's very annoying. I like my cars to run quietly. There should be no creaks, no rattles, no nothing on a $40K Acura...mine is a 2014 so it affects all 4G years apparently. Let me know what you end up doing to fix this, whether it be the foam tape option or otherwise. Thanks,

-greg

Buy a tube of the Honda Shin-Etsu grease (it's pricey stuff - who knows what's in it). Clean and then apply the grease to the sunroof rails and sliding mechanisms and I'll bet your rattle will go away. Mine did this when the car was pretty new. The dealer performed this service under warranty and (knock on wood), I've had no further recurrence. BTW, the grease is also great stuff to put on your door, body and weatherstripping seals. Just clean the seals with soap and water, being careful to get all the grit and crap out, and then put a very light coat of Shin-Etsu on the rubber surfaces. Wind noise and creaks/rattles that you didn't even know were there will disappear. Magic stuff!

Tsb

There is a tsb on the sun roof rattle (search this site for it as that's where I found out about it). Not sure why the dealer is oblivious to that fact.

I went through that repair process and it fixed the rattling problem permanently. I was out of the manufacturer warranty period but Acura covered it as a goodwill.

Yes there is a TSB for the roof rattle but I thought this issue was fixed by 2012?
My 2010 FWD TL has this rattle which comes and goes.
It sounds like the seat belt buckles in the back seat are rattling, but it's in the roof.
