2012-TL battery management system may NOT operate

I just bought this used 2012-tl/tech. I noticed a low battery message and the dealer said it was caused by a sensor. They told me they replaced the sensor. The message disappeared from the display. Today, I noticed a message in the INFOR display that "Battery management system may not operate" "call your dealer" It also displays a date when the above message was generated, which is exactly when I brought the car to the dealer to check the low battery issue.

Any idea please? I am concerned that the dealer did not replace the sensor but just disabled the Battery management system (message display)

I didn't even know we had a battery sensor. I think it's just the battery itself that needs to be replaced. Apparently OEM batteries are known to go easily.

That is a new feature in newer TLs.

There is a TBS (12-013) that updates the software for the battery sensor. It did not apply to my car which I bought Sept 2012 so I assume it was for early 2012 model year production. See attached.

TSB 12-013 Applies To:
2012 TL 2WD – From VIN 19UUA8...CA000001 thru 19UUA8...CA008239
2012 TL SH-WD – From VIN 19UUA9...CA000001 thru 19UUA9...CA002516

Thanks Reorge. I took my car to the dealer this afternoon. Based on what the tech told me, he basically reset (updated) the battery management system. I assumed he used the procedure as you described to update the system. Now that warning message is gone.
By the way, my car was manufactured in 8/2011 (2012 model).
