Grinding sound when accelerating with steering wheel fully turned.

I just noticed this with my 2012 TL earlier today. If I accelerate moderately when my steering wheel is fully turned to either direction, I get this grinding sound. It sounds like it might be my wheels scratching some stuck ice but I can't find the source. I do have snow tires that are smaller than stock that are from Acura but that shouldn't make a difference. I hope it's not something internal with the tranny or anything...

Has anyone ever seen something like this?

Yes!! I just noticed this yesterday on my 2012. It was very cold outside and I was turning with moderate acceleration to the left from a stop. I don't have any ice build up so I don't think that is it.

Let's try to figure this out.
Yeah I got a car wash so if it still happens then it's not ice, which I already doubt it is..

I noticed that it went away after driving for a while. Could it be like a CV joint due to grease freezing or a bad strut?

I'm in Toronto and its like -20 to -30 degrees celsius so it may only happen when it's extemely cold.

Park the car in a heated garage for a few hours, more or less around 8 to get to normal temperatures. A visual inspection of the outer and inner CV joints won't hurt either. Turn the wheel all the way left or right, get a flashlight, put on some gloves and try to feel/look for cracks on the rubber housing. Safety first.

or...

As the car warms up in a heated garage and if you have no ice/snow under the wheel wells, stains on a piece of cardboard under the wheel areas can show you if there is a leak.

Again, safety first!

I don't know (yet) what a CV joint is so I have a lot to lookup and learn. Anything you can tell me to help me see if the issue might be with the CV joint?
