I had a major rattle coming from the roof area .... mind u i only had 120 miles when i took it in... Their fix solution... FELT TAPE on sunroof track... WTF..... It's still rattles from time to time.. but really felt tape seems to be their solution for everything.... This is my #3 Acura and the worst one yet... not sure where the quality of Acura's went.... I thinking of jumping ship to Lexus (GS350 AWD)

 

the sunroof rattle exist for a long time at acura, i don't know why they don't know how to fix it for good. My 2005, 2007 Tl had it and my 2012 also. I just put some silicon grease on rubber from time to time and that's all.

 

There is a service bulletin on 4G TL roof rattles, that involve doing something to the weld joints. Do a search.

 

I saw a link around here awhile ago from an actual mechanic that worked for Acura. He actually posted the TSB's from Acura but i have a feeling they may have been removed. (i'll see if I can find it for you)

Hopefully they can fix it for you but i dont think you want to how it was fixed. If i remember correctly they drove a regular nail into where the weld break occured then cut the head of the nail off and then rewelded or something.....you would have to double check.

In 2010 I was close to buying a 6MT but 2 of the 3 I test drove had quality problems like this and in turn i was also turned off like yourself. It was one of a few reasons why I passed but hopefully they can fix it for you as it appears to be a common problem.

 

Curious...when was your car built? Date is on a sticker the door jamb of your driver's door. It will show month+year.
