2011 SH AWD "clunking sound"
2011 SH AWD "clunking sound"
okay didn't think of it first but seems to be getting louder as it gets colder outside here in Chicago.
Bought the car a few weeks ago @ 30k and didn't notice it until the weather started to get cooler.
I always let the car run for 2-4 min. before driving off. The second i start the car it sounds like a deep "clucking" sound then after 20-30 sec. of the car running it goes away.
Today when i pulled away from the driveway i noticed a little wet spot... i checked it out and i couldn't tell what type of fluid it was because it dripped on top of a leaf causing the color to turn faint orange when i dabbed it w/ a tissue.
No smell , thin weight nowhere close to being oil. I did notice that within a week my "oil life" went from 90% to 80%, not sure if that has to do w/ the noise

^No, bad advice. Sounds like H2O from the A/C condenser-evap. This should be found on the garage floor behind the front passenger tire.
Tranny fluid is synthetic, thick and smelly.
Engine "clunking" is normal under low load when cold. These 3.7ltr are cylinders are big (more than 3-1/2" across), the stroke is even longer. Sometimes the piston slap can actually be heard.
I would NOT warm up the car. Because of the size of this motor, oil splash is used to lube the engine components and driving helps acomplish this. Just take it easy for the first 1/4 mile.
