2010 Acura TL side mirrors - brown spots

My 2010 Acura TL is developing the brown spots on the drivers mirror.
I have replaced just the glass on my older 2005 TL when this happened, but I can't seem to find any instructions for a 2010 TL. Does anyone out there have the replacement instructions?

I dont know the instructions but you are overheating and burning your mirrors
you are leaving you heated mirror on

I have heard that leaving it on causes this, but on a 2010 TL doesn't it automatically turn off? On my 2005, I didn't even know there was a mirror heater button that stays on, but when I looked at it, it was NOT depressed yet just recently the brown appeared. Would an Acura extended warranty cover this? I might have to just buy a new one to see the back side of the mirror to see if it snaps off like it did on my 2005 TL.

overheating is absolute bullshit. My 2010 is 4 and only has 40,000 Km's (25K miles). It's entirely garage kept, therefore the rear defrost is likely used 1-2 times per winter season. BOTH my side mirrors suddenly 'developed' the famous BMW bullshit brown rusty mirror spots. Acura told me I am overheating them.. They can go F themselves on this pile of BS. Just like the entire front brake set replaced under warranty for seized caliper sliders. Apparently I don't 'drive the car enough'. It's sad to see this TL model year seems to have caused me so many problems (replaced MT transmission as well at 16,000 miles).

Needless to say, to pop off the glass, place a cloth against the lower part of the housing, and slide a flat blade screwdriver behind the glass to pry it off. Disconnect the heater wire one you've popped it off.

They (dealer) scratched the inside part of the mirror housing. The side where the signal marker is (outside edge). I had some touch up paint so I painted it myself.

I took a look at it and there appears to be "catch" at the bottom of the glass mirror that does look like it can be released with screwdriver to remove just the mirror from the painted housing. I may see if they will replace them under warranty, but I imagine they will start in with the overheating excuse. I will get the replacement and look at the back to see where it attaches before I starting prying away and break an actuator or something. If anyone does have the actual OEM shop manual instructions for a 2010 TL feel free to post it

Here's the link to the manual, but don't know if it still works or not.

THANKS for the link to the manual. That could really come in handy! I have an extended warranty on my 2010, but I am sure it will be great for things like brakes and side mirrors. I got one of these for my 2005 Acura and it was very helpful. Especially when you try to take on something like a timing belt. Thanks again!

I took a quick look at the manual and it looks like there are two parts and this is part 1. Is part 2 available? Again, thanks for part 1!

I really hope this will be covered under my extended warranty. I'll be taking my car in for service this week. I'm not sure how it overheats, mine always turns off automatically. It definitely shouldn't be considered wear and tear.

Tell me what happens when you take it to the dealer. If they tell you it is cosmetic tell them it's a safety issue when you don't have clear vision!

OK, I see all of the manual. On the first page I saw that big red X on the lower 1/2 of the table of contents so I thought that there was only part 1 and not part 2. Kind of threw me a bit. I see that pages on removing the side mirror glass. THANKS AGAIN!!

Any updates on this issue? Just realized a couple of brown spots on my passenger side mirror - my mirror heaters are NEVER on...

1) any luck getting it replaced under warranty?
2) anyone have a part number for replacing the glass?
3) approx how much does it cost to replace?

It should be covered under warranty but not covered under AcuraPlus warranty.

I had mine replaced under warranty, but the dealer does not care about your vehicle got the vehicle returned with a chunk of paint missing.

the main causes of the discolouration is water getting in behind the glass and rusting the backing or the mirror is constantly on defrost.
