Made the TSX my daily. Copped a 2014 CBP SH!!!

What's up 4th Generation TL Forum!

My name is RT. Some of you might recognize me from the TSX forum. I just picked up a 2014 Crystal Black Pearl (CBP) Acura TL SH with Tech package. Went with the 6spd auto as the wife drives it as well. Plus my TSX is a 6spd manual. Was going to buy a used one but the dealers wouldn't accept my offer so I just bought a new one. Didn't feel like dropping the extra $2500 for the advance since I'll end up taking the 19's off and the AC seats are not so useful up here in Washington. So far, I love the car!

I have owned the car for 3 weeks now and it is only driven on the weekends. I have decided that this will be a VIP build as a already went all out on the TSX which I still own. It's my daily.

Since I bought the TL 3 weeks ago I have gotten:

Zylon added to exterior and interior
Factory Lip kit (Still boxed up from getting Zylon applied)
20% Tint on the windows which turned out to 11% with the factory tint
Spoiler Kings rear window spoiler (Arrives tuesday 12/17/13)
All Season Matts front, rear and trunk
6000k HID fog lights

I have been buying parts every week. Still on the hunt for the right set of wheels and coilovers but I have a few options in mind. Stay tuned for more mods and photo updates as the car comes along!

Couple shots of my TSX from Forum Fest 2013 @ Pacific Raceways in Kent, WA.

Congrats on buying the new car.

The 6MT AWD TL is light years ahead of the FWD TSX in technology, in speed, and in handling.

Explore and enjoy the fun.

Thanks,

I agree with you there. Going from FWD to AWD was a big advantage. But, the wife hates driving stick so I sacrificed the manual for her. It's cool. Always been a manual owner. I'm ok with slowing down and enjoying the cruise. Use the power when I need it.

I am friends with Rob from Acura of Lynnwood. He offered me a steal of a deal on their supercharger off the 2010 TL. I can always pull the trigger on that . I was gonna do it on my TSX but bought a ring instead haha. Maybe the TL! I already get a great discount on parts thru Acura, CT/E and heeltoeauto. So this car will be pretty close to complete come summer time.

Thanks for the warm welcome. Love reading others posts and input.

In that TSX, you are Sunk In Boy. If u got some lower offsets and wider lips...that TSX would be NASTY!

when u stance the TL...remember you can go very wide with the wheels. 11's will fit perfect in the rear. 10-10.5 in front.

Congrats on the new TL! That's great you can have 2 very nice Acuras to have at the same time. I'm ready to see the mods you do to the TL. Good luck.

@Vivmike

When I was building the TSX I wasn't going for a flush look. It's all functional. I ran 8 different sets of wheels on it from low offset to high and the type F's were perfect for my drop and performance. Plus I was avoiding rolling fenders. So I maxed it out without running negative camber or pulling fenders. The SSR type F's are 18x9 +50 on 225/40/18. I'm running 10mm spacers and sitting at +40. Got them for a steal so I couldn't pass. They were brand new 3 years ago with brand new rubbers and I paid $1900. The rims alone were $2300. I'm very happy with the TSX.

The TL will def. be wide. I've looked at other's set ups and it'll will be 20x10 minimum. There's a set of Work VSXX locally where I am at. 20x9 +19 20x10.5 +25 with tires. He's asking $3300 for a mint set which ain't bad. But gonna end up going custom built for the TL. Not worried about the specs. I'll make anything fit.

Most guys are running around +30 on there 10"? How bout 11"? I hate shopping for wheels for the 5x120 lug pattern. They're all staggered due to BMW and 19" or below...

Thanks for the advice!

Looks like Rob is still having trouble trying to get rid of his take-off "supercharger piecemeal package", after 7 months have passed.

$4500 for something put together piecemeal is pretty hard to swallow, especially that it has no instructions, no warranty, nor tuning support.

But if it comes with installation/tuning assistance and warranty from Lynnwood Acura and/or CT-E, then it would be a different story.

How sweet a deal is Rob offering you ?

Dont worry about it, Rambo. You just bashed Rob's product anyway.

Even if the OP buys the SC and it runs awesome... your still gonna hate; cause hate is in your DNA and you are Canadian.

Congrats on the new car! Get some new low beam bulbs to match the fogs a little better.

How's the Zylon coating? Always though those dealer protectant packages were just ripoffs like the extended protection plans. Also my dealer claimed the coating protects it from bird droppings, acid rain, tree sap and not having to wax my car for like 3 years. Sounded like bs to me, so I passed on it.

VIVIMIKE, thought you have learned your lesson good from the last ban, not to start racial and personal attacks.

You must be itching for another ban from the AZ forum once again.

Great pickup man. Love to see some other CBP's around. Do you plan on doing any cosmetics to the beak? i.e. paint match

Not to hijack or be dick here, but can you explain what the purpose of an Acura not being a daily driver is? I've seen a bunch of other people on here with the same mindset and it doesn't make any sense to me.

My thinking is... I qualified for a higher loan than I took out for my TL, but I decided that spending ~$40,000 was a waste of money when I could get basically the same car for about ~$15,000 less and continue to invest the extra $$$ in my budget every month.

Now assuming you paid cash for your car and it was $40,000, that pile of cash would be worth ~$230,000 in 25 years at 7%. Thats not even factoring in the cost of the mods. If $40,000 (let alone $230,000) was an inconsequential amount of money to me that I could just spend it on a car, I would definitely not drive a TL as my weekend/fun car or a TSX as my daily driver.

To be fair, I've toyed around with getting a 1972 Lincoln Mark IV from time to time, but I've never seen it as worth it because it's a money pit.

Sorry for the hijack-- just trying to understand why.

Thanks and thank you to everyone else. Not sure about paint matching. I actually like the silver. Plus I'm not going for the sporty look. Going for bossy VIP and the silver will flow perfect.

Got my spoiler king rear window spoiler on Monday. If it doesn't rain it'll be on this weekend. Same with the kit. All my parts are still wrapped up and stashed crying to be used. Haha
