After waiting 4-weeks to have my guy tint the windows, my appointment was today

20/20 CarbonXP on the sides and back

Front is getting done at 80 CarbonXP when he gets a new roll in.

Very nice! I also went with CarbonXP, but 35 on all windows since front window tint is a no-no in SoCal. I don't like having different shades on the sides.

 

Ha Ha...in reading my post again and your comments, I could see how it could be confusing.

I have 20 front doors, 20 passenger doors and the front window is going to get done at 80.

I am not a fan of different shades on the sides either, but to each their own.

Nice. I want to get mine done but I don't know what a reasonable price is. I already have tint and the rear window is bubbling so it has to be removed. I was quoted $430 total all 6 windows. $200 rear, $80 sides, in 20% $150 front in 50%. Reasonable?

 

Do you have warranty to take it back to redo your back window? In regards to price it all depends what type of tint you want. Also noticed price depends on location.

w0nd3r - place near me does it for $220 for the whole car for a sedan, with a lifetime warranty against bubbles or the tint turning purple. I'm in MI tho. $430 seems really high.

 

I agree with i64X, $430 seems high, but if they are stripping out the old tint, I could see why it might be more.

You might be able to save some $$ by taking out the old tint yourself.

 

for those that were quoted over $400.00 dollars I wonder for what type of tint.

 

Nice tints, a must have & makes the tl so much better lol. But really 400+? Go to a junk yard or some place pay them 10-20 bucks to strip out the old tint

The person said that their old tint is bubbly and they need that removed & redone & got quoted 4xx. I meant he should be able to get his old tints removed for $10-20 my friend got his removed for that much

 

Oh! okay....the average cost here to remove tint is $100.00 and some shops uses steamers to remove the rear window to avoid damaging the defroster.

 

Damn really? My guy who tinted my windows & he was recommended by my dealership they paid for it he charges about 150-200 to tint a car & this guy's been doing this for 15-20 years does about 15 other dealerships lol & I have lifeterm warranty

 

He said $150 for the windshield, without it, $280 for Suntek Carbon XP sounds like roughly par for the course... I just did CXP on mine for $300, but could have gone with the regular suntek for $225... Have to say what type of tint you are being quoted.

 

I'm having CXP put on my car this week for $199. $169 for the regular Suntek.

 

if you wouldnt mind driving up to Perth Amboy NJ, the shop i go to, Boss Audio, does an amaaaaaaaaazing job, and charges 210 for 3M Fx-MP tint on all the windows except the windshield. just got mine done today, and im in love all over again.

 

I go to NYC/LI to visit the fam (I'm in Philly) every few weeks so Perth Amboy doesn't sound bad. My problem is taking off from work during 9-5, M-F. Thanks to everyone for the advice. This guy won't give me any estimates for doing anything, he just keeps saying come in to get your tint done and we can talk about scheduling your other mods. I think I'm getting a bad deal because I'm a lady and he thinks he can take advantage of me.

Well guess what? That Pioneer 8400 I was gonna have him install... doing it my damm self. Wanted to get some custom headlights, fog lights, custom dash work done... doing it my damm self. Just cuz I'm a woman doesn't mean I'm gonna be fooled. His loss on all the business he was gonna get.

As the the kind of tint he was going to use Llumar. However, I have it reg'd in Louisiana, getting it transferred to PA once I get the papers from my finance company (so effing slow, been waiting since July 3rd). So I need to get it inspected--if the tint is over 20% legitimate inspectors will not even look at the car. I told this guy I need everything street legal because I'm not paying to get it done, undone and redone, and I think that's exactly what he wants.

 

Just got my 2009 TL tinted. 40% front and back. Under $200.00 in NH.

 

Wow that's a good price. This guy ripped off the color and not the glue so his buddy could get my business in replacing my rear windshield. Pretty p.o.-ed about that but altogether with the replacement it will cost $400. Not bad. I'm trying to fin another shop near Philly to do it because what they did was just bad practice.

Just got mine tinted last weekend also.
30% Suntek HP, $190.
Coming from FL seen many good and butchered tint jobs, and this shop here in Bmore did an awesome job on mine and my friends (11 TSX) tint same day.

 

Yeah i have to have tint on any car, its the first mod i make on any car.
