Changing the steering wheel geometry.
I know that this thread is almost a year old, however, no one has responded to you yet. @altair47
I love flat bottom steering wheels, especially in smaller cars where that extra little bit of shaved off space matters. After having experienced a 3G TL Type-S, I would say this steering wheel would be worth it in that car. I found the bolstering on the 3G TL to be too thin for my liking, and my remedy was actually some driving gloves. Now that I have a 4G SH-AWD TL, I will say that the steering wheel is perfect, to me. The bolstering is just thick enough to feel "right." I've only had my car for two weeks now, but never have I ever felt anything was wrong with the steering wheel. So, in my opinion, I don't believe the steering wheel is worth it on the 4G TL.
There is a caveat here, though. It's your car, so only you can determine what is worth it, and what is not. Also, if you're at a point in your life where $500 doesn't phase you, that's another advantage. I will say this, at the least, that steering wheel does look pleasant to the eye.
