CaptainT's 2010 TL SH-AWD Tech WDP Progress Thread
#1
Hey Folks,
This thread will track the progress on my TL.
True story: I had absolutely no intention of modding this TL in any way until I started browsing Acurazine - so thanks!...
Here it is as purchased:
2010 TL SH-AWD Tech WDP
Umber Interior
Body Side Moulding package
Splash Guards
Gold Pinstripe
Mods Coming:
Aero Kit
Midnight Chrome package upgrade
More to follow...

![](http://i1355.photobucket.com/albums/q720/CaptainTL/IMG_0385_zps6595bd66.jpg)
I'm debating the removal of the Body Side Mouldings and the Gold Pinstripe as I'm having the AeroKit installed and plan to throw 20"s + lowering springs on it.
What do you guys think? Remove or not to remove?

Hey Cap,good to see some photos of your Tl.That's a nice list of planned mods that you have, why not do the mods and then decide if you want to remove the side mouldings, there are many pics on the forum of cars without the moulding,so you already know how it will look that way.
I would vote to remove the pinstripe,if it would not cause any damage to the paint.
Good luck and i look forward to your progress.

I'll have some pics with the aero kit and chrome package this weekend. I'm 90% sure I'm taking off the pinstripes (it looks safe enough to remove) and same with the moldings.
The pinstripes looked good to me without considering mods especially because I didn't have tints and so they matched my umber interior slightly. With my plans, they don't fit.
I picked the TL up early last year and stumbled upon acurazine and here I am.
I modded up my 5th gen accord back in the day and thought I wouldn't be interested in mods anymore. Boy.... Was I wrong...

I agree with the suggestions so far, lose the pinstripe, leave the body side moulding on until you complete the Aero Kit install.

Yep, take off the side molding and pinstripping-lower it and you're golden

Actually, it was on the car when I purchased it. Un-modded, it looked classy to me and gave the TL an old school look. Now, it looks distracting.

Mine came with a pin stripe too. even has an Acura symbol in it. I was going to take mine off but unfortunately the clear coat underneath it has an impression of the pin stripe so I'll leave it. It has kinda grown on me though.

Looks great! Same car as i have. The body moulding is up to you, i personally dont like it on the car but be careful not to rip off the paint if you take it off :P
Cant wait to see the progress!!!

On my old 5th Gen Accord, the mouldings had clamps so once removed, they holes needed to be filled.
I've been assured that our TLs are just thick double sided tape-type stuff...
Thanks.. ya.. already reaping the benefits of all the talent/knowledge on this forum...

Aero Kit and Midnight Chrome package installed. I am definitely happy with it. But now it needs to be lowered.
Camera Pics only for now (better ones to follow).
As I thought, the mouldings make the car look too busy for my taste...

I decided over the weekend to change my H&R springs order to a Tein SS coilvers set. Was able to swap items just before it was shipped.
Also added front & rear camber kit.
Putting an order in for wheels & tires this week as well. Once you start, it's funny how the ball rolls faster.
Also having pinstripes removed this weekend - wish me luck!

Good question. I would like to know too since I have been considering H&R's.

The reasons I eventually decided to go with the Tein SS are:
1. I am currently at about 55K km or 34K miles so putting H&R's on my stock springs seemed to be a short-term solution since I would probably need to replace my stock shocks at around the 75-85K km with the lowered springs reducing my stock shock's life expectancy.
2. I am hoping to use my car all year round and so the option of raising the car in the winter and being able to slam it (as much as the Tein SS allows) in the summer made me feel better about it.
3. I looked for some feedback from those who've had or have the Tein SS and the general consensus was that the damper system improves ride quality - which is important to me.
I'll add that I ordered all my suspension parts through HeelToeAuto online and they were cool about letting me change my order. They also have a promo code for forum members (not a big discount though but helps partially offset the extra shipping to Canada).
Thanks KK!
Thanks, I will do before and afters for sure.

Here is a pic I took the other day in lighter conditions to show how the mouldings and the pinstripes look with the Aero Kit.
I will be taking some close up pics of the pinstripe before it gets removed this weekend.

Here are the specs for the tires I ordered to pair with my wheels (F: 20x9, R: 20x10.5):
Front: Michelin Pilot Super Sports [K1] 245/35/20 95Y (#20206)
Rear: Michelin Pilot Super Sports [non-K1] 285/30/20 99Y (#61244)
Thanks to KarKraze for recommending a great shop for wheels/tires - I will post a review of my experience once it's all installed.
As you can read, the rears are fairly agressive so I hope I get it going without rubbing (I am prepared to roll and have a camber kit on order).
Anyone had success with a 285-30-20 in the rear of the 4G?

Thanks!
I ordered the Vossen CV3 20x9 in front and 20x10.5 in the back.
On another note, I ordered some oem tpms sensors from Curry Acura online and I recommend them for those looking for oem sensors - fast shipping and I paid no duty to Canada ($170 or so CAD Shipped)
Good service too since I forgot to add some minor parts to the unit and they actually called me to inform me.
Has anyone seen bronze tint on a WDP TL? I know black is always look good, but I'm curious to see some pics as I'm in the market for tints.

Bronze would clash with all the white and black trim. Just my opinion.
