Bruce Waynes 2011 CBP Tech *Slow* Progress Thread
::INTRODUCTION::
Hello AZ members! I've been a lurker on here for about a year now (was on a different name for a long time)... and had my 2011 TL Tech for about the same amount of time. Anyway, I have decided to finally make my own progress thread. All my mods are are cosmetic so far...
Exterior
Color matched front grill
Color matched rear trim
35% Tint all around
Debadged
CBP Rear Roof Spoiler
OEM/A-Spec Body Kit (waiting to install)
Tein S-Tech Springs (ordered)
Lighting
6K Low Beams
3K Fog Lights
LED Daytime Running Lights
White LED License plate lights
Blue LED Interior Lights
Removed the dimmer on the stock foot lights
Let the pics begin...
::STOCK::
::LED DRLS::
::TINT 35% ALL AROUND::
::REAR DEBADGED::
::3000K FOG LIGHTS
::BLUE LED INTERIOR::
(the glove box, center console, and vanity lights are blue as well)
::COLOR MATCHED GRILL/TRIM::
::REAR ROOF SPOILER::
::A-SPEC SIDE SKIRTS::
I currently have to wait to install the rest of the a-spec kit because of weather and time.... so I only have the side skirts on at this time. I am eager to get the front and rear pieces on as soon as weather and time allow.
I also have ordered the Tein S-Tech springs that are, for whatever reason, backordered from Tein? So they won't ship til May 10th... and then I will have to wait to get them installed as soon as time allows. I did not go with coilovers because of the snow and salt we get in winters. I do not want them to get rusty, corrode, or lock up on me nor can I lower it like coilovers would allow me since I don't want to be a plow for the city in winter. So, springs seem like the right choice for me... at least for now.
That's all for now. Thanks all!

I know they are pretty ordinary mods and nothing we haven't all seen on AZ already... but just wanted to post my progress anyway. Glad you guys enjoyed!
Well I finally had time this weekend and the weather cooperated... so I was able to finish the installation of the front and rear lips. Sorry for the extraordinarily terrible pics (and dirty car)!
::REAR LIP::
::FRONT LIP (& Yellow Fog Lights)::
You can see I also use yellow lamin-x on the fog lights. Certainly not everyone's cup of tea, but I think it came out well!
Looking at that front pic... I think I need to get some chrome bulbs (at least) or better yet, switchbacks for the front parking lights/turn signals.
Drop on S-Techs will be coming up relatively soon!

Thanks man!
I don't really have any. Wheels could be a while
I like that "JDM" look haha
Wheels, not yet. They will be a while down the line, unfortunately. My S-Tech springs came in, and I will be getting them on today. Pictures to come

GOOD NEWS!!! -
::TEIN S-TECH SPRINGS::
BAD NEWS!!! -
So......... I am now in the market for a front and rear camber kit.
Ingalls for the rear: http://store.excelerateperformance.c.../i-412291.aspx
And SPC Ball Joints for the front: http://www.heeltoeauto.com/spc-adjus...roductid=65333
Is this the correct set up to fix my camber issues? Please advise...

How is the ride?

It rides really well, I can't really tell I'm on aftermarket springs.
I'd say it's 95% the comfort and ride quality of stock. I think if you got into the car and have never ridden in it before, you would not know.
As far as handling goes, there is a significant and noticeable difference I think. The added stiffness is actually welcome. Less body roll on turns, less nose dive on stops, and the lower center of gravity really seems to make the car more "stable" and "solid," if you will, when driving. It's probably just in my head, but it feels like its just gliding.
I think the 5% difference in comfort is noticeable at the small bumps in the road. There is less give and you can feel the stiffness of the springs. It's not harsh by any means. Like I said, if you didn't already know, you probably wouldn't be able to tell.
The drop is significant, you can easily tell the car is lower than before. I guess that goes without saying. I think its the perfect height for what i was going for visually. The increase in handling greatly outweighs any diminished ride quality/comfort. And it is still a height that is appropriate for the weather and roads here. I'm very happy with this cost-effective approach. Though, once you add in the necessary camber kits, it's not quite as cost effective as I was hoping

Haha... yeah.... camber kit and labor probably and springs... probably ended up costing around $500 or $600 bucks? It's been a while... I can't remember. But it was slightly depressing... But I suppose it's all worth it in the long run. Car is in alignment now at least.
Went with Ingalls in the rear... no kit up front (see pics). Probably raise the rear up a little, so it doesn't look "as lowered" in the back. I'm not sure how much... but straightening up the wheels seems to have raised the back end up ever so slightly. No complaints though... just an observation.
Thanks a lot!

More pics just because it's been a while and because my boy just got a 2010 SH-AWD in WDP.
You can see the drop in these pics. Probably nigh-impossible to tell the camber kit is on.
As usual, sorry for the crappiness of the photos.

Nice works man. I lowered my with tein s springs too and it look like I'm going to need camber kit. I haven't get an alignment done yet. I want o drive it for 2 weeks and let they springs sit and sag. Did you have to get front camber too or just the rear? And what is the different of one piece and three piece in the rear? Thanks

keep it clean
Nice progress. Looks good, clean.

Were you having ride problems before the springs, or did you just do it to get the drop?
