Blackout with Bluebatmobile

I asked around and a couple people recommended Andy from bluebatmobile.net to supply me with some light covers for my 2013. They work pretty good. Its not window tint, but more of a vinyl cover for the lights.

They are pretty hard to get on your rear lights because of the curves, but with a heat gun and some pulling and stretching, they go on pretty good. I did the passanger side first, then the driver side after i watched a few videos on youtube on how to apply the vinyl on rear lights. Good tips on there.

Andy was pretty quick to respond. Even shipped me the covers on wednesday night and got em by Friday so i could put them on last weekend.

visit his page http://bluebatmobile.net
his email and contact info is on there. he is pretty quick to respond to a text message or email and payment via paypal make it a quick smooth process.

Here are some close ups of the overlays on the lights:

Looks like during the day:

Now here is what it looks like at night:

its hard to get the turn signal when its at its brightest:

to sum it up, Andy was easy to work with and since i didnt do the passenger taillight perfect i ordered another set and he gave me a discount. I am putting the front bumper and front turn signal overlays on this weekend. I'll post the pics of that once i am done.

now my gf calls my car the batmobile . I joke that the radar deflecting paint is on back order, but seriously, i think it make the car look a lot better and custom. Couple of guys at work asked who did the work on my car, so that feels nice to.

let me know if you cant figure out how to reach Andy to order you some overlays. I got the 60% (dark). He also sales 30% overlays.

i dont see his email on his site, so here it is: Andy <bluebatmobile@san.rr.com>; Ill post his phone number with his permission

Looks good! I'd like to see a picture of the back like that last one that isn't blurry with full lighting.

I agree it does look good. Do the overlays have some form of adhesive for it to stick? And would love to see how the front side markers look like. Nice job.

Man those parking spots are tight. I'd be nervous about leaving my car in that lot...

Nice work though!

Did Andy custom cut it for you or did he sell you a sheet? If he customer cut it, I would be very interested as it was a pain in the ass to level it out around the curve on the rear tails.

I really want to do this, but I am not sure if I am patient enough to do it right.

How much did he charge you for the overlay?

andy custom cuts them a bit larger than the actual light so you have room to work with. i used a hair drier to be completely honest. I started on the flatter side and got the vinyl to stick, apply heat and the next small area to cover, peel it back, spray soapy water, and then pull the vinyl in the direction and smooth quickly with my hand so its flat. work it with a felt covered squeegee and repeat.

i worked about an inch at a time, peel back less, spray, lay it down and quickly smooth it out with my hand and see how much i could get could with squeegee. i am far from a pro at tinting.

the vinyl he provided was pretty damn strong i thought, but i was careful not to heat up too much before pulling. i would heat it up good when finishing though. you can look at it and see it start to shrink when you are finishing.

again, his vinyl was pretty strong, i would stretch it good to make sure it was easy to smooth out.

yeah, i try to park by nice cars so they are careful too. only one small scratch so far...

yeah, basically it is a sticker. but read a few posts up and you should use soapy water to get the 'sticker' on right and smooth out the soapy water with a squeegee. you are 'tinting' your lights with a vinyl overlay.

this is the best im gonna get with night pictures in my parking garage. i have a cell phone camera.

notice the top light has no tint. its a good comparison

I also offer a darker 20% tint . Turnsignals can be ordered in amber, and smoke amber as well .

Do you have pics of the 20% tint on lights? I ordered overlays from you a long time ago on IWSTI.com and they help up great over the years on my 2005 STI.
I recently picked up a 2014 TL and I want to do the overlays for the front turn signals, mirrors and rear reflectors. I am still debating doing the tail lights.
