4G '09-'11 & '12 Combination Grille, Planning and Worklog

it had been sitting in the attic ever since I did the front conversion. I realized I would never have the acura again and the fact that the TL generation was already aging made me realize that someone else would benefit from it. Oh and the four months, I worked on it on and off

I just bought a 2009 TL and have looked everywhere for a grill. This is the one that I keep coming back to and love the work Nexson did. I know this thread is old but I want the same look with the painted surround and a 2012 chrome piece. I've been thinking about the same look, but know it would be difficult for me with the epoxy or bondo or whatever is used to combine the two. I know i don't have finish skills like Nexson.
I want the same look, but does anyone think the chrome piece would fit in this grill from ebay? I would attempt to attach the chrome piece in the middle near the top, but am not sure if it would fit. Not sure of the dimensions or even if a TSX chrome piece would fit.

I've asked the seller for the dimensions but noticed they are in China :-( Not sure if this will work out. I really just want the 2012 grill look with painted surround without spending 2 grand on entire conversion. I just wish i could buy Nexsons grill somewhere :-) Would be even better if you could purchase a 2009-2011 grill surround where the 2012 OEM chrome shield just bolted on :-D

Did a quick search on ebay, you can get a second 09-11 grill for about $210 (complete assembly and new). $20 more than than aftermarket one you're looking at. For the 12-14 grill, you're looking at about $160ish (for the chrome trim and middle bar) which it looks like you were planning on buying that too. Doubt you'll break a grand if you ordered those and do the work yourself. I would keep checking ebay, check your local salvage yard or hit up some of the vendors here and get a quote.

Thx Jtech. From the posts, it looks like i need these pieces to accomplish what nexson did. 2 from 2009 and 3 from 2012-14 so that I can keep my existing grill on while I work on the new one.
2009 Parts:
2012-14 Parts:
It also got me thinking... I'm wondering if i could just use the entire grill assembly from the 2009 and just add the 2012 shield.
Maybe try cutting away the lower portion in RED, Fill in the BLUE with filler or some other material/epoxy/fiberglass something, and I might have to cut away the area in GREEN so the 2012 shield fits in.
This might be worth a shot b/c the part that scares me the most is joining the two together so that it is structurally sound and stays that way. I suppose if I screw it up I could just buy the other two 2012 pieces and use the lower portion of the 2009 and attempt to do what nexson did.

Yeah getting a second set of grills is a good idea. This is a job you don't want to rush. Just plan it out right before you cut anything. Prepping the grill is important for a good bond. Don't rush that or anything I guess. Haha. good luck man.

Well, I lost an ebay auction for the first grill piece. Sooo... I ordered the china sport mesh grill... yea I don't have high expectations for it, but we'll see.. I'll probably wait until I receive it(if I ever do receive it) to see if the 2012 shield fits. I also ordered a front bumper for $80 b/c mine has a couple gouges straight through.. That price sounds too good true but we'll see, at least the paint will match nicely between grill & bumper. I only paid 7 grand for the whole car so this is probably the more sensible approach anyway... Rest of the car is is great shape. Only things wrong are the bumper, grill is bubbling up(the reason for replacing it) 2 front original dampers leaking(replaced those yesterday) and the A/C compressor just died so that'll be my next project, $290 for compressor and $80 Denso condenser. This car will be keeping me busy in the garage for a while but I'm determined to get atleast 500 k miles out of her...
