2012 BWP Grille Mod

Here is my first real mod:

I picked up an extra grille insert to play with. I then got some matte black wrap and applied it to the second grille.

I think is really pops against the silver bezel and white car. What do you all think?

^Thanks!

I liked the look so much that I already took the original insert and wet sanded it to knock the shine off and rough up the surface and then painted it.

Bada bing!

Nice, I also like because it gives it a more aggressive look. I'm also glad you painted your original one to give it a cleaner finish.

Interesting. Wonder how that would look if done in white?

Gloss black would look better, flat black degrades the car IMHO

I was thinking about going gloss black after seeing this for the day. The rest of the grille insert below the part I painted is gloss black.

I knew someone would paint the grille on a 2012 sooner or later.
Your doing the same thing the guys with the 09-11's did. Explain that one.

Anyways, I like it but like nexson said I think the gloss black would look better and probably easier to maintain.

I ran into Stew this morning and asked him the same question. I think you would have to paint the entire grill though - not just the insert. The black fins below the insert probably wouldn't look right with the white insert. I think he is on to something good with the gloss black insert though. I'm anxious to see that. It's a pretty inexpensive and easy DYI mod.

It might look good to do the insert and 2 bars below the insert piece in white, leaving the mesh part black.. Those 2 bars below the insert are separate parts.

Very good looking. Acura, take note, this would be a good look for a Type-S.

wow it does look better, have u tried to make it a glossy black? might match the headlights more. matte black looks unfinished imo.

btw what happened to you liking the way your 2012 looked? All the $ put in by acura to change the way it looks and all the comments from you saying you liked the way the 2012 looked over the 2009-2011 model only to repaint the grill anyways LOL. good stuff.

What does modifying to add a personal touch have to do with not liking the car or the way it looks? I have said before that the Disney smile could use some work. I now you are just trying to pull my chain but know I do like the way my car looks but I can never leave well enough alone.. since I was a kid!

Ya know Stew, that looks pretty nice! Still wonder what it would look like painted BWP, or any body color for that matter

@stew - wondering where you got the extra grille from? I searched a bit online when I first saw this thread and never found a solid place to buy.

He got it from an online dealer. Any dealer should have them. The guy at my Acura actually went to my h/s so I get a bit of a nice discount.

Stew, take some better pics!!

Hmm, not bad. I'm actually surprised at how good it looks. Lets hope no one attempts to cut the shield out and put some expanded steel behind it like the 3G butcher jobs I see up here. \/
