2012 BWP AWD TECH - with Accessories

Hi Everyone,

I finally took ownership of my 2012 TL (SH-SWD) with tech package today. I drove the car home (few hours away) and I am delighted by this car!! I don't have any pics yet as I just came home and the front if full of bugs but I will wash it first thing in the morning then take some pics for posting by Saturday evening.

I was inspired by Stew's car and loved it alot so I, too, put some accessories on it. I still could not decide on the rear skirts so after spending some time at the dealership, we were able to test one piece at a time by having people holding the parts and then seeing how the car would look.

In the end, the front and side skirts were put on. I opted to not put the rear skirts but will put the back mud flaps. The only problem is the part were ack ordered so it may be a few weeks before I get the back flaps put on. We used flaps of a different color just to see the overall look and the flaps just gives the perfect little flair on the bottom to match the side skirts perfectly. Even without the flaps, its looks quite nice and I am really delighted with the way it turned out. It may not be unanimous but I guess as long as I like it is what matters right

I will have some pics to share tomorrow evening and hopefully, I can find someone to post the pics on my behalf...I tried that image bucket thingy back when I had my other car and could never get it work..so someone hosted them for me....I will be looking for some help

Stew...thanks for the great photos of your car, it really helped me get to see great pics of the kit and although my car is not as nice as yours (not the 19 inches), I am curious what you will think of my combo of accessories.

Pics to come soon....

Thanks...I think that it turned out quite nicely and I'm pretty excited about it. I thought I was going to miss my TSX but after seeing this one coming out of the shop after all the pieces put on and all detailed...I was like WOW!!

The car handles so well and the stereo is just awsome...

Hi everyone,

I now have some pics but as I was saying, need some help. I am hoping I can send them to someone so they can load them up on my behalf....any moderators willing to help.

KEEP IN MIND....Rear MUDFLAPS are not on the car yet and that makes a noticeable difference and will share more pics when I have them on.

PM me if you can host the pics for me and give me your coordinates (e-mail)

You bet and yours and Stew were who I used for inspiration...Now mind you WHITE would have been the color regardless as all my cars have always been white. I used the photos you and Stew provided to custom build mine which is a hybrid version of you cars

I hope it works....Again, rear mud flaps will get put a=on and after holding them against the car (different color because the white are back ordered), it makes the car balanced.

Enjoy...I know I am

After seeing my pics, I am starting to think that I should take the PR photos for Acura...In my opinion, these pics make the car look like it does in the flesh unlike the poorly executed photos from Acura.

MODERATORS....Can we update the threat title to say...Pics now available or something like that. Thanks

Gorgeous! I really think the SH-AWD wheels are just as nice as the 19" Advance wheels. The finish on them is great. Love the color and accessories on your car too. Enjoy!

Thanks....I agree. I am the minority that seem to think these 18" look better than the 19". I am not sure why, maybe old fashion, but I like how they are more subtle and like someone pointed it out, similar to the previous MDX's wheels. The only thing I am not a big fan of them is that the Lock Nut sticks out a bit but given that my car is always in the garage and never left unattended, I may them them out....Its not too bad but a bit noticeable.

These wheels look sharp when they drive slow too....and additionally, I DESPITE the Eagle RS-A which was another plus when I saw the 18" came with the Michelin. These are not the greatest tires but given that my car is only driven on dry pavement at ALL times, its a non issue

That really is nice even without the rear valance. 0 Post a pic with the rear splash guard on. I'm trying to picture in my head the flow of the body kit with just the rear guards. Now you got me thinking about adding the kit

Hey "Treblig"....Actually, you are the one that got me thinking about the back mud flaps because yours looked good but loved the front and side view of Stew's car.

Luckily for me, I have a very good relationship with the dealership where I keep buying my Acura's. They allowed me in the shop and we played with the various components of the kit one by one and they would hold the pieces against the car and let me see if I liked or not and we tried all sorts of combo (including the side moldings) and the combo I chose is what I felt looked best to me.

Although they did not have the white mud flaps in stock, they opened a set of black one and pressed them in their spot and trust me, it looks sharp - It gives it that nice little bump out behind the wheel well. I wish I could have of it done at one but it wasn't meant to be. I'll get the Honda delaership to place them for me...unless they are super easy to put on but sometime, I would rather let someone handle it cause I am clumsy with tools

I have been driving around town this evening and there are very very few Acuras here, let alone a 2012 and especially with the kit and heads were turning like crazy Its nice to have a unique car....

You will not regret putting the front and side skirts for sure.....

Yep....Canadian through and through....land of the Tim Horton

The front and side skirts are on the car to give it that slightly more aggressive look which is what I liked. I cannot get over the car is just amazing to drive. I enjoyed my TSX but this is sooooo different and the ELS stereo with DVD audio is just amazing!

Excellent photos! Very well presented. I'd do some better ones but.. most people would complain more about the rear kit.. so I'll skip it.

I do look forward to seeing yours with the splash guards.

Great pictures

The following one is my favorite. The design has so many white lines going in the front, I feel like I am hanging out at a party thrown by keith Richards.

Great choice. Love the front and side skirt design on the 2012. Ya I would leave the back skirt off as it looks like a tack on job. The rear splash guards should set it off just right and will save your paint on the rear quaters for sure.

Very nice car weather. I live the front lip and the skirts, gives the car a nice subtle change. I'm thinking of getting the RJ kit next summer so we'll see. Congrat's and again, you have it looking great!

so amazing.. Acura has finally done it.. we all complained about the 2009-11 styling with that big-ass beak and bulky size, and they have listened.. this one looks so sleak and smooth..

Hey guys...just a quick update, my dealer just informed me that my splash guards are in and will be shipped to me. I will be having them installed next week and just curious if people are still interested in seeing pictures with them on. I know TREBLIG was considering following the same route I took with a partial aerokit and splash guard as the rear piece was the aspect we weren't overly excited about. Any interest still? Otherwise, I won't both uploading the pics.

Thanks

Looks great, I also like those 18"s very much. Maybe it's just the picture but the paint doesn't seem as if it's a pearl white, more like the BMW/Lexus flat white?

Beautiful! Congrats on the purchase!!! The white colour really accentuates the creases and accent lines - it just looks so sharp! Also, the 18" wheels look very nice with the white too.

I don't think that I have seen another 2012 TL in Calgary.... they were so hard to get earlier in the year. I wonder what the rest of Canada is like?

HeartTLs....You are correct in that the Bellanova White is not as pearly as the previous whites from Acura. It is still pearly and on a nice sunny day, you can see it better but the difference was very noticeable when I traded my 2009 TSX (pearl white) and had it parked it next to the TL. At first, when I heard online that the white was not as pearly on the upcoming 2012, I was upset but after seeing and owning it, I like it alot now. I'd still love the pearly white if it came out that way but the Bellanova is a gorgeous color too and not flat white by any means.

Treblig...No problem my friend. When the splash guard arrive (as they are shipped since I live 4h from my dealership), I'll get them installed and post the pics. I'll send you a message when they are ready to be viewed.

Nexson...I am sorry to say that I won't be painting the grill. I am not a big fan of modifying my cars other than OEM accessories. It might be different if I didn't lease and change my vehicles often but even then, I would have not painted the grill. The 2012 has toned down the grill enough that it doesn't stand out as much. I even liked the 2009-2011 with its stock look.

ostrich....If you think Calgary has few 2012 TL, you should see out here, it's even less!! I have seen two 4G TLs where I live and none of them are the 2012 model so right now, I am the only one driving the 2012 TL in my town and it gets alot of looks and stares Thanks for the compliment on my TL....I have always loved a white car because when clean, it just makes the black mouldings and tires stand out. I love contrasts and nothing contrast more than black and white. It helps that I am a clean freak and my car is always clean....it never goes out in the rain or snow. We have another vehicle for that so my car always shines and the calipers and underbody is just like new all the time. You should have seen my 2009 TSX when I brought it back after my lease...I had 39 000km and never been driven in the rain or snow...LIKE NEW I tell you....whoever bought it got a sweet TSX

Weather, that is one beautiful car! Is it a 6 m/t? My 2005 tl wdp is and I love it! A 2012 tl is someday gonna be my next car. Thanks for letting me know what transmission you have, and if you like it.

tl3430....Thanks for the kind words. As much as I tried and take some decent pics, the car looks even bettr in person. I am about to install some rear splash guard because I opted out of the rear skirt. This will finish the car as right now, I have the side and front skirt - when that happens, new pictures wil be posted and hopefully, will show the car even better. Mine is a 6-speed Automatic. The g/f is not very good at driving a manual so this was the best option although even left alone, I would have likely chose the automatic anyway. The car is just amazing! The interior refinement of thi scar are just incredible, from th eseats to the stereo to the feel of the steering wheel and lets not forget the SH-AWD which I am now starting to exploit to its full potential and feeling the reward. I am currently leasing this car because with the MSD I was able to drop to interest rate to virtually nothing (which I coudn't do with a purchase) and I am also putting the monthly equivalent of my buyout aside in a saving account so IF I decide to keep the car at the end of my lease, the cash is there to pay it off so it will been paid in 4 years at virtually no interest....and if not, then I have saved about 20K for something else *lol* A win win situation At the rate this is going, I can see me buying this car....the other advantage of leasing prior to buying, if the car is a lemon, I'll just give it back or IF it ever gets in an accident, I'll let Acura take the depreciation

Potmilkz...I will agree with you 100% on the handle, I wish they would have kept the chrome part on them. About the wheels, I disagree....I love these rims ALOT. Not sure if you have seen them in real life but they are gorgeous and on the white car, they look sharp. That being said, its all about personal taste. Thanks for the compliments about the front lip....I think it looks sharp too as do the side skirts (although more subtle). Too bad the rear skirt didn't turn out as nice and the reason I am enhance the rear with the splash guars to make the rear well flare out just a bit to flow better with the side skirts. Pics will be coming soon...stay tuned

UPDATE - Hi everyone, the splash guards arrived last week but didn't get a chance to install them until today. They are on the car now and am about to head out to take some new pics of the car with them on (rear only due to side skirts). For those interested in seeing them, I should have some new pics here later this evening so come and check them out, especially you Treblig as I know you were anxious to see them.

MODS --- Once I have new pics, any chance I can send you guys a note to have the title of the thread modified to have the worded UPDATED with new pics added? Only once I have the pics actually loaded up. If not, its OK, I was just curious if it was doable.

Thanks

Hi everyone,

For those interested, please find new updated photos with the rear splash guards installed. So I now have the front skirt, the side skirt and rear splash guards as accessories. I opted out of the rear skirts for reasons previously mentionned.

Enjoy and if you have any specific requests for other photos, please let me know.

01stang...Thanks for stopping by and the comments! No plans to upgrade further and I agree, the darker headlights do make a difference.

BTW...My apolagies, just realized you have the 2011...and that OEM kit is AWSOME, its the 2012 rear skirt that I am not a huge fan and hence why I was asking you about it...BRAIN FART
