You really listen to music at sound level 8-1? My ears would be bleeding by then! lol I listen to music at volume 4-6 max in my car...I must have sensitive ears...

Thank a bunch my friend!

The pictures on your website on the white tl are also pointing down. do you have any clearer pictures of the exhaust with the tips not pointing down? that is a fairly big issue for me.

The tips are slightly angled downwards. I'm pretty sure that they are meant to be from the manufacturer, I like the look of em like that either way. There is really no way to adjust the angle as the tips come straight off of the mufflers.

It appears from looking at the pics that from the manufacturer the muffler comes with the exhaust tips pointing downward and no matter what adjustments is made when installing, the fact that the tips are welded pointing downward makes it impossible to get the tips looking straight.

Josh is there a way to have the tips come from the manufacturer straight instead of pointing downward?

I've already spoken to the fabricator to ask them about the positioning. On the test vehicle the tips are not pointing down. They're going to angle a bit just b/c of the contour of the bumper but we will make sure the tips come out straight. I'll have more info next week.

I have to agree with you. I like the round tips better. The XLR8 tips look too much like the factory ones that come on the SH-AWD so why bother.

And I'm only 50.

You see, I prefer the tips from XLR8, it looks pretty much stock, which is a look I like. Of course, it's all personal taste!

The aesthetics I love, it's the sound I have to get used to. I haven't drove in about a week so now I'm just going off of memory lol.

We got our shipment. We'd like to install one of these on a local vehicle to check fitment. Call us to arrange for a free installation of the exhaust. All you will have to do is pay for the part. 203-483-6100

Glad you guys finally got an exhaust...You will definitely be playing more with S-Mode and the paddles.....but yeah it will look much better once it is straightened out and not angled. Also, if the tips were much thicker like this it would look better:

or the OEM SH-AWD tips look better.

Although the sound seems a bit more hoarse...Hopefully after the breaking in period it will sound better.

here is a side by side of the sound from ATLP and the XLR8 Exhausts sound clips. I made the clip 2 days after gettting the exhaust installed because I knew how anxious everyone wanted to hear it.

After installing my exhaust I've noticed some odd behaviors from my vehicle. Not faults, just quirks. 1st is that I now have torque steer when gunning it from a low speed or stop. Second is that my VSA ! symbol flashes when gunning it from a dead stop. Side effect of extra torque? Maybe so, but i figured the SH-AWD torque vectoring would negate torque steer. Any insight?

I'm local to you guy's but I'm not sure that I want to put the money down on an exhaust just yet...especially now that it's Christmas.....If you guy's don't have anyone at the beginning of the new year, let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Here's a quick clip from the inside 0-60. Don't judge the 0-60 time, if you notice I'm in D and I'm not excelerating hard off the line. I have torque steer now and I'm trying to hold my iphone steady . This is a sound clip not a performance clip.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Yymm28GYuE

Make sure you use decent speakers as there is a bit of bass to the note.

Anyone in the Phoenix Arizona area looking for an exhaust at an extremely discounted rate? We want to have the fabricator test fit the exhaust and confirm fitment. Please email us at sales@excelerateperformance.com or PM us or call us at 203-483-6100

The exhaust note is getting noticibly deeper (mature) as I "break it in". I have a 1500 mile trip coming up, after which, the exhaust should be fully "broken in" I will be sure to post a clip of the sound after this trip. It's really starting to grow on me as far as the sound, I've really liked the look and performance gains from the get go, but the sound is really starting to come into it's own. Only issue now is every car seems to want to race me at every stoplight now lol

Thanks a lot for the update! I really appreciate it! The sound seems pretty nice in your second sound clip.

It would be even better if someone in the Phoenix, AZ could go to the fabricator directly so they can check the exhaust setup.

Hey ssg hutch, try to do a good, hard launch with the vsa turned off and see how much quicker you can excelerate!

c'mon mike! i thought you knew that?

with VSA on, it helps mitigate fuel and braking to gain traction...with it off...full power!

thats why, people complain about the z34, can't fully disengage the VSA

on the 3G, turning off VSA only helping for launch

on the 4G, it helps through the powerband, because its putting all power to all the wheels

I'll do a run after i get back from holidays/business trip. But I have to stress the torque diff is very noticable in everyday driving, the thought of a hard VSA free launch is exciting.

The ATLP sound clip is good, but what is that "raspy" sound in the background? Is it the engine making the sound because its in the garage, or is it coming out of the exhaust?

I like the XLR8 unit, sounds like a european sports car. The exhaust tips pointing down is not what I would like. I hope to hear that it is resolved so they point straight back. XLR8, please let us know if the fabricator made the change. Thanks.

Excelerate, what is the latest? Have you received a test fit vehicle yet? Has the fabricator solved the "angled down" look, or is just twisting some pipe to get the tip in the right place?
Also, SSG, any update after your long trip?
Will there be a group buy on this system?
Keep kicking butt out there...........

I'm still on my trip, I'll be back in texas at the end of the month. I have my car with me tho. I now love the exhaust, I just had to get used to the sound. G37's seem to love to test me, but they stand no chance nowadays. And now with all the snow and ice we've seen over the last week, I believe sh-awd stands for snow handling all wheel drive. I was driving like the pavement was dry as trucks, suvs, and other vehicles struggled to stay on the highway. I love my TL, and the xlr8 exhaust. Vids will be coming at the beginning of next month for the driveby's and the vsa-free launch.

Any chance you'll be in the Phoenix area again? I want to have one of the exhausts from the new batch checked to make sure the tips are aligned straight.

I'd love these tips as single outlets for 3rd gen non Type-S. The single tip should be bigger.

We need a TL SH-AWD in the Phoenix, AZ area for test fitment on the exhaust to verify the tip placement. In exchange, we will give you a full XLR8 catback exhaust for $500. Please email me at sales@excelerateperformance.com if you are interested. Please provide your vehicle info and times when you can drop the vehicle off and for how long.
