HHMMmmm..... I can't find it on your website. Actually I can barely find anything for my 2010 SH-AWD?? Is the sorting by vehicle not working correctly? Also, I know it has been debated on this thread but I would like to get a sound clip and at least more than one photo of the system. Will you be able to post some more media?

Thanks

Search under a 09 TL SH AWD.

The exhaust isn't out yet. Still working on pricing and production.

Any chance of a choice of different set of tips? I don't mind the ones that are on it, but they don't really "wow" me. Any other options available?

It might be possible later. I'm going to introduce the system like this for now since most people have loved the tips so far. We may get involved with other tip options a little later.

Gentlemen,

Any idea on hp/tq increases we'd expect to see by installing the exhaust, cat and j-pipe? (the $1725 setup on xlr8)

I can't tell you for sure, but as a general rule, it usually costs $100 per horsepower. I have usually found this to be true for many naturally aspirated cars, so take it for what its worth. And no, I'm not joking about that.

I'd say that's probably about accurate. It's going to be as much as having the great sound as the power upgrade.

On the 3rd gen TL the gains were as follows:

J-pipe 10-15whp and 15-20 wtq
Catback 10whp and 10wtq

You could expect 3-5 crank hp out of the test pipe or High Flow Cat.

i would say, on the J37A4 motor, you can expect to open up about 20+hp with all 3 pieces... maybe (maybe) 30hp on a 6MT

Okay, quick update. Got the car back from the exhaust shop. It's definitely a LOT louder than I expected (not a good thing). Keep in mind that I have the SRI, J-Pipe, and High-Flo cat as well. There is noticable drone below 3K rpm (not too crazy loud in cabin, but it's there. I'll need to take her on the interstate to confirm), above 3K the exhaust sounds wicked, below it sounds a little ricey. Although the sound is much louder than I'd like (somewhere between rice burner and dodge charger), the look and build quality of the system and tips especially are top-notch. Now for the exciting part, I know I need to let my ECU learn the exhaust but initial trials of gunning it from a dead stop were mind-blowing. I just about gave myself whiplash! There is a very noticible difference in low end power that I did not anticipate. Full review with pics and some sort of video or sound clip in the next day or so. So far:

Sound: thumbs down
Style/Quality: thumbs up
Performance: Yes ma'am!

Post your questions and I will do my best to answer them. Keep in mind that I'm no automobile whiz, I just love cars.

^ Hey, just remember... all exhausts will need some time for a "break-in"

roughly 500-1000 miles, the drone and sound will "tone down" as the packing material inside the mufflers breaks in...

i had the ATLP quads on my 3G Type-s, with J-pipe, pre-cat deletes, HFC and CAI.. the first 2 weeks were almost unbearable... after about a month, the sound was definitely still loud, but much more tolerable.

Cant wait to see the pics!!

Josh-- were you ever able to do a pre/post dyno test? on an engine like the J37, with almost near dual exhaust, i would imagine a system like this is good for about 15whp.. maybe more, when paired with the J-pipe and HFC

Great info. Thanks for sharing. Do you think there's enough room for the exhaust/tips to clear the rear underspoiler bodykit?

@ Blackura-- I would imagine after a few hundred miles it would sound more acceptible. The power increase (even on my automatic) is VERY noticeable. Also, I was never able to do a DYNO (my one regret).

@FYAH There seems to be more clearance with these tips, they hang just a bit lower.

I'll take pics and try for some sort of sound clip tommorrow (pics definitly, sound may have to wait until after a week-long business trip)

Any suggestions on how to get a good sound clip? Inside the car or out? What RPM ranges do you guys want to hear? Any good ideas on how to upload the video for best quality?

for sound clips, ive learned the real best method to capture the sound, is drive past the camera. have somebody (or leave it) recording, get in the car, and do 2-3 passes.

cabin is great too. leave camera on the seat or something, and give it some gas.

so excited to hear the clips!

and the link to the video is:

I will provide better pics and videos as well as a full review after my business trip. So you guys can expect them some time later next week. I did manage to get her on the highway today and I must say the drone is minimal but it is present. If you listen to the radio at a decent level (vol 8-10) then you wont notice the drone. Also, I have noticed a drop in low (1-2.5K) RPM sound, I'm guessing that after I have "worn in" the exhaust, the sound will be more mature. Above 3.5K when the v-tec "kicks in" the sound is violent and sounds very nice.

^^^thank you so much!

I understand your dislike of the drone and noise since I had the same complain about the J-Pipe in my TL. On the ohter hand, the FE and improved performance is so sweet....

As they say, you gonna pay if you wanna play...

You really listen to music at sound level 8-1? My ears would be bleeding by then! lol I listen to music at volume 4-6 max in my car...I must have sensitive ears...

Thank a bunch my friend!

Looks awesome! Too bad about the drone around 3k rpm, that's probably a deal breaker for me. I couldn't stand the drone in my 3G when I had an aftermarket exhaust put on. Hopefully the drone will go away as the exhaust breaks in.
