XLR8 Brake Packages

Does anyone have the kit installed on a 2009 TL? Need new rotors and pads and I was hoping to get opinions on the BBK package from XLR8.

Looking at the cross-drilled rotors with the ceramic pads. $470 plus shipping seems to be very competitive.

Oh yeah, if anyone has pictures of the setup on the vehicle or can guide me to where I can see what they look like, that'd be great.

I'm have a set of cross drilled/slotted rotors (cheap stuff), I'll be upgrading to the XLR8 drilled/slotted package unless a reputable company makes 2 piece rotor that won't break the bank.

What are the chances of cross drilled discs cracking?

We have sold hundreds of these brake packages to the 3rd gen TL crowd. We have a sold a number to the 4th gen TL crowd as well. The packages include high quality rotors that are machined properly. The alloy compound is better than the OE compound and it is more durable than most of the other cheap companies on the market. The machining is precise as well.

We've sold a lot of these rotors and pads to the Acurazine community. They use a power alloy compound and they are really well-machined. They also feature an e-coating, which is a durable black coating, that is applied to the hubs and vanes of the rotor.

Josh I bought slotted/cross drilled rotors from a company in Cali over a year ago and although they perform better than OEM and are e coated black they're beginning to rust. Is that normal? Can you say whether or not the ones your offer in the package will do the same?

What part of the rotor is rusting? The part that was e-coated? What brand are the rotors?

From 88rotors.
Take a look at this link:

http://www.stoptech.com/products/rot...er-slot-rotors

E-Coated Finish

Every Power Slot® rotor is finished with a black e-coating on both sides of the hat, inside the cooling vanes and on the outside edge. E-coating is a superior electro-statically applied finish designed to withstand 400 hours of salt water exposure without rusting. This is especially important on both mounting faces of the hat where it touches the hub flange and back face of the wheel. Any accumulation of rust in these areas can lead to installed lateral runout issues.

STOPTECH's e-coating is fairly durable. I've seen it last for years. Where the pad makes contact though oxidation will build up regardless; however the pad will burn it off.

This seems to happen a lot with acura cars.My last two did that after about a year of purchasing them.It hasent happened with my car now but this is the only one ive had the chance to park in doors.I'm not a 100% sure ,but maybe if a car is always outside the weather might start to effect certain areas. This is just a guess

I went through two sets of Rotora slotted rotors on my 2G TL; but they didn't show any rust elsewhere, except on the area which touched the brake pads. Even so, a few stomps on the brake pedal would clean out those rust.

I cleaned them with soap and water, then caliper cleaner, then anti rust brush and finally reprinted them. They look great again!
