Noise does not equal faster. Like said before, even if it added 10 hp it still wouldnt be enough. And what if the 3g had a cai, then it would be a wash and still faster.

We can all say our car is faster than some other guys' ride until we're blue in the face. Like I said - take your car to a drag strip and show us the slip of your time. We'll compare to a stock 3G TL-S - and I would bet it wins by at least a 1/2 sec.

I'm also speaking from a bit of experience - having owned a 3G TL-S - It was a fast car bone stock. Even if your SRI gave you 10hp (which is highly debatable based on the many threads we've discussed on it) - you're still at a ~120lb weight disadvantage. I think at best - you're neck and neck.

Via Edmunds.com
2007 - 3G TL-S
  • Base engine size: 3.5 L - 286hp
  • Curb weight: 3559 lbs

2009 4G TL FWD
  • Base engine size: 3.5 L - 280hp
  • Curb weight: 3708 lbs.

No - depends on what your description of "downgrade" is. The TL-S was the top of the line 3G TL. The 4G is an upgrade - but ended up being a larger/heaver car in their quest to up-market the 4G to the likes of the other mid-sized cars on the market.

I say this in all seriousness - We really do want to see what the times are on a 4G at the drag strip - and compare to a 3G or 3G TL-S. AFAIK no one has taken their 4G FWD or AWD to the strip for a 1/4 mile run and had it timed.

If I can find one in the LA area, I'd be more than happy to take the challenge. I'll keep me eyes open Pete...

.....
Agree.

The 3G TL-S was the purpose-built performance edition of the 3G TL line, with bigger engine (=fastest 3G), beefier suspension tuning, and Brembo brakes.

The 4G looks like it supercedes its predecessor, I mean performance-wise. I think you can agree with that?

^no.

the 4G SH-AWD 6MT is the highest of the 4G.
but again, the weight and awd system hinder it a little.

Not quite

For this exact reason. The 4G SH-AWD 6MT could considered to be the top of the acura performance - it's about 150 lbs lighter than the stock SHAWD TL - putting it about 200lbs heaver than the 3G TL-S. In a straight line I think the 3G would get the jump (if the driver could control the torque steer and get enough traction), but over a long enough the 4G may catch up.

On any track with turns the 4G SHAWD would destroy the 3G - without question.

So if you look at it from that perspective - on track - then yea the 4G SH-AWD is a substantial upgrade from the 3G.

We had a thread floating around here a while ago where we were talking about trying to put together 3G's and 4G's at a track to race. I would love to do that some day.

I wish I opted for the AWD! Alll this talk is making jealous.

How about this one. Would the AWD beat the FWD TL ? I mean the AWD has more HP, but I've heard that the AWD kinda takes away from the starting line.

No I bought the perfect car! It was my introductory experience, phase to a long beautiful life-long experience within the Acura family!

Don't get me wrong I'd love to get my hands on one of AWD's though.

Getting to the point, I'm sure my 09 TL w/tech and SRI would take a stock AWD.

If anyone in LA is up for the challenge, show me the way to the "legal" races? (I think they might still have one at the Pomona Fairgrounds area)...

Bring it!!

I'd be scared to race against you. Not because of the actual race, but I think you'd lose control and hit my car. Not worth it. :/

Eazy,
how old are you?
And you think, because you added a unnecessary $250 part your car is faster than any of the guys here who actually know what they're doing?

Yet again, I think you are a troll (maybe you are another a member here who posts under a different name to entertain us), but the BS you are writing and are insisting on is just ridiculous.

I am here to learn about my car and maybe bitch a little here and there and try to help, but you are here just to disturb the ambiance.

You wrote so much stupid shit, that if I were you I would be embarrassed to keep posting under the same nick and try to start from scratch, no offence!

Sometimes it is just better to STFU and move on.

Why do you try to discuss things you ( and I) have no clue about with people who pimp their ride since decades? You bought the cheapest TL 4G and insist on your car being faster than the ones of members here who invested more in their cars than I make in a year?

Some people just don't want to learn, I guess!

stupid thread.....

Listen EazyRider...

4G AWD TL will beat you. Bone Stock vs. Your car w/ Takeda SRI...

The Takeda SRI MADE YOUR CAR SLOWER, and it was already slower than a UA9...

You really do ask some stupid questions and make some dumbass remarks.... and wonder why you get banned or tormented on the forums. #troll

i think you should sell your TL and go get 97 Civic... while your financial background (probably parents) can afford you the TL... your mental status, puts you in the BigFoot Power Wheels truck.
