Performance chips
Has anyone tried a performance chip? I know the claims by most of these companys selling them are probably a load of garbage but is there any chip out there that does help?

^ agreed.
you will never, ever, ever find a real "performance" chip for the 3G/4G Acura TL's.. and think about it... these vendors are charging like $20 on ebay...
one member in the 2G RL section bought one, opened it up, and there was nothing but two wires, and a resistor. all which cost about $0.19 to manufacturer.
the only way you can actively tune your car, would be a custom fabbed ECU harness, hooked up to an AEM FI/C box, which will cost upwards of $600+ and labor charges & dyno time, for tuning it... with an N/A (not boosted) engine, dont expect more than 10-20hp out of tune
Plus, the J37 motor is such a high compression engine, that you run the risk of blowing the motor if the "tuner" isnt extremely knowledgeable on Acura J-Series motors

^I e-mailed Hondata with a request about a year ago and got a seven word response "sorry buddy, don't wait up for me".

2010 TL AWD 6MT: New King
Interesting how this site charges $69.99 for this "performance chip." Audi, Acura, heck even a Lamborghini Murcielago and Ferrari 599 can use this "chip."
They all get +50HP and +50 TQ.
Woohoo!!

the 3G TL, which had a world of popularity in the "tuner/modder" community, couldnt even get support from hondata.
they did r&d on a few boosted 3G TLs, and the results were inconsistent on every car, because of the type of ECU these cars use (Motorola i believe) which will almost always override any piggyback or "flashed" setting
there was about 3-4 members, who got their 3G "flashed" by hondata, and had TREMENDOUS results.. but since each 3G needed specific tuning, while the vehicle was at hondata & church automotive in Cali, they couldnt offer a PnP harness or even a mail-in ECU program.
some crazy folks with the 3G went out and got the AEM FI/C, spent hundreds of dollars on tuning, and got some decent results...
i am surprised comptech (ct-e) is even r&d'ing and designing a supercharged for the UA9. sadly, they will probably use the same M62 blower from the 3G, which quite frankly doesnt make REMOTELY enough power to validate its $5k price tag...

^$5,000...yikes. If I had $5k to blow on a toy I would have bought that white '01 Prelude from my in-laws.
